    Amazon Reserve Versus Permanent Hold

How to Delete Your Amazon Account

Fast-forward to the year 2020, and virtually all new and reinstated seller accounts have a 7-day reserve on their funds. But thats not all. Amazon claims the right to hold all their funds for 90 days after account suspension.

Amazon can even put a permanent hold on your funds, even though the DMCA forbids it. This usually happens if theres an intellectual property A collection of ideas, concepts, More issue, but there are many other causes. The Funds Withholding Policy page says this:

Some sellers choose to write to Amazon after the 90-day cooling-off period. And some receive their money back, thankfully. Thats even though their accounts are never reinstated, so they werent really able to prove their case. But some never do.

Unfortunately, theres not much sellers can do to have access to their money faster than a couple of weeks after shipping. Running a tight ship can help, but a large chunk of money will still be tied up with Amazon. Hopefully, new laws will soon make it easier for sellers to have a say in how Amazon reserves and permanent holds affect their businesses.

As a rule of thumb, if you want to avoid amazon account suspension while using gift cards to shop, then you must not be fond of buying phones or high-end devices with your gift cards. Violations Of Amazon Selling Policies

Amazon believes in maintaining a safe and enjoyable experience for buyers with clear rules, so the company will suspend sellers if you violate any of their five community rules:

  • Honor your commitment to buy or sell.
  • Maintain current account information.
  • Amazon keeps these guidelines broad to encompass a lot of situations sellers could encounter. Some of these rules are pretty obvious though, such as not faking your identity or selling counterfeit goods, and should be easy for most sellers to follow.

With 2 billion monthly site visitors, Amazon strictly regulates sellers to preserve the high quality of its marketplace. Most sellers have no problem following these policies since theyre eager to access Amazons 2 billion site visitors shopping for products each month.

Having said that, Amazons rules are quite strict. Even the best of sellers have had their accounts suspended.

Luckily, suspension is not the end of the world. Sellers can have their privileges restored by submitting an appeal.

For a successful appeal, sellers have to show Amazon that they clearly understand why they were suspended, and that they have a plan for resolving the issue and improving their selling practices.

    Removal Of Competitors’ Products

On October 1, 2015, Amazon announced that Apple TV and Chromecast products were banned from sale on by all merchants, with no new listings allowed effective immediately, and all existing listings removed effective October 29, 2015. Amazon argued that this was to prevent “customer confusion”, as these devices do not support the ecosystem. This move was criticized, as commentators believed that it was meant primarily to suppress the sale of products deemed as competition to products, given that Amazon itself had deliberately refused to offer software for its own streaming services on these devices, and the action contradicted the implication that was a general online retailer.

In May 2017, it was reported that Apple and Amazon were nearing an agreement to offer Prime Video on Apple TV, and allow the product to return to the retailer. Prime Video launched on Apple TV December 6, 2017, with Amazon beginning to sell the Apple TV product again shortly thereafter.

Amazon is known to remove products for trivial policy violations by third-party sellers that compete with Amazon’s home-grown brands. To compete for product placement where Amazon’s own brands are featured prominently, third-party sellers often need to resort to advertisement spends and list themselves with Amazon’s expensive Prime program for which they are charged a premium on order fulfillment and returns, resulting in increased costs and lower profit margins.

And Another Lawsuit Concerning Amazon Prime

Similarly, in , 16-CV-967, the plaintiff alleges that Amazon charged him for Prime membership without his knowledge or consent. The lawsuit was originally filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court of California but was later removed to the United States District Court of the Central District of California under federal question and Class Action Fairness Act jurisdiction. Lead plaintiff, Gregory Harris, alleges that Amazon charged him more than $100 for Amazon Prime after he purchased products from the retailer in June 2015.

The complaint alleges that these actions constitute a common scheme to mislead consumers and incentivize them to purchase products from its website. The complaint further alleges that Amazon violated the California False Advertising Act by making misrepresentations and untrue statements about its services, namelythat it would not charge for membership fees in order to purchase products on its website, and made false representations to Plaintiff and other putative class members in order to solicit these transactions.

Violations Of Amazon Restricted Product Rules

Rather than one set of product rules, Amazon has specific product restrictions for each of their product categories.

Supplying restricted products is grounds for account suspension, so sellers must check the Restricted Product pages to make sure that their supply is appropriate and whether their supply categories require additional action, like getting pre-approval from Amazon.

What Youll Do To Resolve The Issue

Theres no set formula for explaining how you will resolve your issue since the actions you list will depend on your unique seller problem. Having said that, there are a few general tips to keep in mind when listing your action points in your appeal:

Confused about how these tips all come together? To help you start your action point writing, here are a few examples of action points based on different seller issues.

    • A seller is suspended because of his high pre-fulfillment order cancel rate, so he reviews his inventory management practices and finds that his cancellations are due to listed items being out of stock. His Plan of Action could detail how he reviewed his practices to form this conclusion, and how he plans to schedule a daily inventory check to make sure all listed items are in-stock and available to ship immediately.
    • A seller is suspended because of her high late shipment rate, so she reviews her shipments and order fulfillment details to conclude that she has been sending orders out late because her order volume has dramatically increased in recent weeks. Her Plan of Action might include how she reviewed her shipment and order history to reach this conclusion and how she has revised her management strategy to accommodate her higher volume of orders.

    Avoiding Future Amazon Suspensions

Overall, this was a learning experience. Going forward, I will be responding to all notifications about inventory items that I receive from Amazon, regardless of if I plan to carry the item in my store in the future or not.

I am also going to change up the wording of the automated emails that Feedback Genius sends out on my behalf to make it abundantly clear that I will work to resolve any issue a customer may have.

In addition, I will be much more careful with the inventory I carry if I think there might be a higher level of risk of return. I really do value the opportunity to be a seller on Amazon, so I will do everything in my power to make sure that I continue to have that privilege.

With that said, its quite unnerving to have your account suspended when all of your metrics indicate that things are going well. Especially with sales of 118K in the first 24 days of June:

In reality though, the fees on this amount are hardly a rounding error when they have revenues approaching $100 Billion per year. This has been a reminder of just how quickly things can change, and another reminder to diversify income sources. Luckily, the suspension only lasted a little over a day and I was able to pick up where I left off.

    Dont Open A New Account

    Has Amazon Closed Your Account?

Many sellers first thought is to simply open a new account and start over. They use a different name and bank account in hopes of fooling Amazon.

Unfortunately, its not that easy to trick Amazon. They have many ways of linking seller accounts. They will discover the second account and link it back to the original account. Once this happens, there is ZERO chance of getting the second account reinstated and youll hurt your chance of reinstatement on your original account too.

Take it from us, opening a new account to avoid a suspension isnt worth the effort and will only cause more complications.

This astronomical number represents about 13 percent of total company sales, which explains why Amazon is turning over every rock to find the best and most monetarily efficient method of shipping. Although Amazon is the largest e-retailer in the world, it operates with a slim margin of profit in order to compete with companies like Walmart and thus must ensure their customers returns do not get out of hand.

We want everyone to be able to use Amazon, but there are rare occasions where someone abuses our service over an extended period of time, an Amazon spokesperson said. Backlash from Customers

Dont Send Multiple Letters After Submitting The First Appeal

After you submit your first appeal, you should wait up to a week before submitting any additional letters. The days of 12-24 hour response times are long gone due to the volume of appeals that Seller Performance receives on a daily basis.

Also, its common for Seller Performance to not send confirmation that the appeal was received. This can make you nervous and worry that they havent received your appeal or maybe are ignoring it.

We know its tough, but refrain from sending multiple appeals with different information in order to try to get a reply from Seller Performance. If you know you followed instructions, trust that Seller Performance has received the appeal and will reply once theyve reviewed it.

Exactly How Do I Respond To The Synchrony Bank Lawsuit Dont I Need A Lawyer

Those sued on credit card debt represent themselves in the lawsuit all the time. You do not need a lawyer. The key, however, is to understand the format, and the due date, for your response. The response to someone who files a lawsuit in court is called an Answer. Typically, you have about 30 days or so to file your Answer.

When you file that Answer, you can specifically admit or deny all of the allegations in the Complaint, and you can assert what are called affirmative defenses. Thus, the three things you need to worry about when filing an Answer are:

  • Address every allegation. You need to admit or deny each and every allegation in the numbered paragraphs in the Complaint
  • Assert affirmative defenses. Be sure to assert whatever defenses you may have to the Complaint. Such defenses could include things like: the credit card was not in your name, you have already paid the debt, the company already forgave the debt, or that the company is too late in suing you and
  • Mail the Answer to Court on time. Ensure that you mail the Answer to the appropriate court within the time allotted.
  • Those three steps might seem daunting you may never have heard the term affirmative defense or statute of limitations before but that is where you can easily get the help of SoloSuit.

Amazons Return Policy Are Retailers Spearheading These Bans

Amazon has closed my seller account How can I open another ...

Amazon must toe the line on its return policy to ensure customer satisfaction, while also avoiding scams and misuse of the return policy by customers- all while operating its multi-billion dollar industry.

To fight this, many larger retailers who sell through Amazon such as Best Buy have begun tracking the return rate and behavior of individual customers and products to determine what the issues are and how to minimize lost revenue from returns.

The third-party service that Best Buy uses is called The Retail Equation, which is a service based in Irvine, California that suggests more than 10 % of all general merchandise retail sales transactions are processed through return optimization solutions from The Retail Equation.

This third-party platform asses customer action and gives the customer a rating or score based on algorithms formed from their return habits juxtaposed with the return habits of others with similar products. This service also strongly suggests a limit on how many items a customer can and should be allowed to return.

If Amazon and its top retailers are taking advice from The Retail Equation, other sellers should consider doing the same. If sellers use this platform, they could better ensure that they are not being taken advantage of.

I belive something is going on. Did your credit profile chage drastically in the past few days? may be you should give more data points about your credit background, so that one or other MF member can guide you!

Hi MyFico members, this is my first post so please go easy, I have tried to include as much information as possible.

I had a very unusual incident with Synchrony Bank.

I applied for a Amazon Store Card about 8 days ago and was instantly approved, however about 3 days ago they closed my account and my payment was declined.

The reason they provided for the account being closed was that the card was not used in a while.

My credit score is not excellent but it’s above 750, all my payments have been on time, no debts, and only used 3-7% of my lines.

Any advice will be highly appreciated?

Is there any way I can have my account re-opened? What number should I contact them at for this?

    FICO 8:Total Credit Limit:

As others have already said, welcome to myFICO!

There are many folks here who are ready and willing to help, but we will need a little more clarification on your problem.

In any case, if you haven’t already you might want to give Synchrony a call, especially if you’re having an issue with a payment… they should be able to take one over the phone if you need them to.
