How To Sign Up For Amazon Prime
Anyone who hasn’t been an Amazon Prime member within the past 12 months can sign up for a free 30-day trial by following these steps:
Sign in or create an Amazon account.
Add a payment method and a billing address.
After your trial period ends, you’ll automatically be upgraded to a paid membership plan for $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Pro tip: The latter saves you just over $40 annually.
Getting your degree? Anyone with a .edu email address can take advantage of a free six-month trial that converts to a $7.49-a-month paid tier under the Prime Student program. As a member, you’re entitled to several bonus offers on top of the standard Prime perks:
Up to 10% off flights and hotels via StudentUniverse
EBT and Medicaid cardholders also quality for a discounted monthly rate of $6.99 you just have to verify your eligibility every 12 months.
Skip Prime Membership But Still Get Free 2
If you arent interested in the music, kindle ebooks, and other services included in Amazon Prime you can always skip the membership entirely.
Instead, if you spend over $35 on eligible purchases you still receive free, 2-day shipping. Depending on the retailer you might have to spend $75 or even $100 to receive the free, 2-day shipping.
Also, if your item is under the limit but you dont want or need to buy anything else try this trick. Find an item that is pre-order and not yet available on Amazon.
Add this item to your cart to get past your threshold but you wont be charged for this item until it actually ships.
If you dont want the item simply cancel that part of the order to make sure you arent charged.
I wouldnt recommend doing this too frequently but its a great option if you need the 2-day shipping without spending any more money.
How Will Amazon Prime Day Be Different This Year
Much of what we can expect from Prime Day 2022 remains unconfirmed at this time. As with last year’s Prime Day and the year before that, we’ll likely see a special Prime Day concert, though there has not yet been an announcement as such. We may also see Prime members given a $10 credit to use toward Prime Day in support of small businesses as we did in 2021, but only time will tell. Right now, we do know that Prime Day will be extended to 20 countries this year, as announced in Amazon’s press release.

How Long Do Prime Day Deals Last
Prime Day 2022 is expected to last 48 hours as it did last year. However, Prime Day deals haven’t always lasted a full two days. Lightning deals can sell out in minutes, whereas other deals can last through the entire Prime Day duration. Our advice is that if you spot a deal you like, buy it on the spot. . If it sells out, you can always check Amazon competitors like Walmart and Best Buy who may be price matching Amazon and offering the same deal.
Will Other Retailers Participate In Prime Day
In the past we’ve seen eBay, Best Buy, Walmart and others join in on the Prime Day fun. While the companies don’t call the deals “Prime Day deals,” most of the prices are direct matches of what Amazon is selling the items for, and some of the other sites don’t require any membership to save during these times.

Amazon Prime Day 202: Everything We Know So Far And The Best Early Deals To Shop Now
Massive sales on fitness equipment, workout clothes, and more.
Memorial Day Weekend marked the unofficial start to summer with a boatload of shopping deals. And while that weekend-long sale extravaganza marked one of the best times to score some major discounts on our favorite gear and clothing brands, there’s still one more major shopping holiday to look forward to this summer: Amazon Prime Day.
For the uninitiated, Prime Day is a massive sales event that rivals Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Usually spanning two days, Prime Day 2021 took place from June 21 to June 22. Based on the retail giant’s , it’s clear that this year’s Prime Day will happen in , bringing a whole new meaning to Christmas in July.
While Prime Day is still a few weeks away, Amazon is already dropping some major doorbusters on home gym equipment, luggage, furniture and basically every and any essential a guy would want. If you’re looking for it, Amazon’s probably got it on sale, with one to two-day shipping times for Prime Members. And given that inflation is at an all time high, now’s the time to save money on duds you’d actually want to buy. Before the big event, we found some of the best early Prime Day deals to shop now, while supplies last.

Is Amazon Prime Worth It
Prime’s current annual rate is the result of a 17% price bump earlier this spring , which wasn’t totally unexpected: Amazon has increased it by $20 every four years since 2014. But that higher cost is undoubtedly harder to swallow after two years of a pandemic that made us ultra-reliant on deliveries especially when Walmart’s rival service hovers at just $98 a year.
That being said, $139 is still a decent value for all of the perks a Prime membership includes if you’re someone who does most of their shopping online. Subscribers get free two-day shipping on millions of items, plus exclusive access to the Prime Video, Prime Music, Prime Gaming, and Prime Reading libraries and unlimited photo storage with . Amazon also offers special discounts on items to its members beyond Prime Day, including early access to Lightning Deals.
But there is a way to shop this year’s Prime Day deals without committing to a Prime membership, and that’s by scheduling your 30-day free trial around the sale. We recommend activating it a week ahead of time so you can take advantage of any early offers just remember to cancel as soon as the sale is over to avoid getting charged.

Amazon Prime Day Vs Black Friday
Both Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday generally offer discounts on the same kinds of devices, but there are a few differences between the sales events that hold bearing over both the value on offer and the ease of actually getting the deals into your basket.
Amazon Prime Day deals are largely focused on Amazon itself, with others like Best Buy and Walmart competing against them. Competition among shoppers is also significantly reduced on Prime Day, which all together means that deals are generally easier to find, easier to price check, and won’t run out of stock so quickly.
However, Black Friday is set across a much larger range of retailers, often with prices that manage to come in just a little cheaper and a wider variety of brands on sale. That does mean a lot more work to make sure you’re getting the best offer possible, and keeping a close eye out for limited stock flash sales that make up for most of those lowest price records. However, with more competition between retailers we do tend to see slightly heavier discounts in November.
Of course, you may also simply want your tech sooner. If so, we wouldn’t recommend waiting too long for a discount. There’s no guarantee that prices will be any different come Black Friday, and with such an increase in competition you’re also less likely to come across the best deals before they’re gone as well.
Do You Need To Be An Amazon Prime Member To Shop The Deals
The short answer is yes. While Amazon has a Daily Deals page that offers discounts and sales to anyone shopping on the site, the best Prime Day deals are reserved exclusively for Amazon Prime members. There are a ton of other benefits to an Amazon Prime membership, which weve rounded up here.
If youre not an Amazon Prime member, you can get a 30-day free trial right now which will get you access in time for Prime Day.

Amazon Prime Day Shopping Tips
Amazon Prime Day offers tons of great deals, but make sure you dont get swept up in all the hype. Here are our top tips for snagging the lowest prices on Prime Day:
- Know when to strike and when to pass. Lightning Deals released as often as every five minutes can turn online shopping into a frenzy. Whenever possible, do a quick Internet search to make sure the Prime Day price is really as good as it seems.
- Read the fine print. Some Prime Day deals, especially on big-ticket electronics like TVs and computers, will hide the brand name and model number until just before the sale drops. Double-check these details before jumping on a low price.
- Check reviews. When you feel rushed to snatch up a discount, you might not read through product reviews like you normally would. Dont skip this step unless youre already familiar with the product and know its what you want.
- Compare prices. Since Amazon Prime Day usually falls right around 4th of July and Christmas in July sales events, check competitor prices around the web. A handful of retailers have even announced free two-day shipping to Amazon Prime members.

It has recently been confirmed that an is indeed happening this year. While this comes as some unwanted news for many, the 17% price bump is the third increase since Prime’s inception.
You can still lock in the current price ratings before the hike later this year, but you’ll want to head over to the today. You can also try it out for 30 days before you make the decision of keeping it, but if you’re like us you’ll most likely keep it. The benefits of the service still outweigh the cost in our minds, and while we don’t like seeing the price of something go up Amazon Prime is something that offers a plethora of benefits for the price.
The price increases are as follows:
- Yearly: $139
- Monthly: $14.99
In an earnings call last October Amazon said it had nothing to announce around Prime price increases. However, some analysts speculated that there could be an Amazon Prime price increase on the way. As reported by , analysts at Jefferies reckoned a price hike was due this year, pointing out that Amazon increased the Prime membership price in March 2014 and May 2018. The same report adds that analysts at JPMorgan also believed that a price increase for Amazon services, including Prime, is coming.
“Increasing the fee again this year seems reasonable and would maintain the latest cadence of about four years,” the report quotes the Jefferies analysts as saying, adding that both previous increases were by $20.

After the first year, Amazon added an extra 6 hours to the event , but made the discounts during that time exclusive to voice shoppers who used Alexa to order the products. It then increased to a 36-hour event, and for the past few years Amazon has turned it into a full two days of shopping fun for Prime Day.
