How And When To Use An Amazon Locker
Anyone with an Amazon account can use Amazon Locker if there is one in their area. Access to Amazon Lockers depends on the store hours of the location where the Amazon Locker is.
For example, if your items are at a Whole Foods, your access to the Amazon Locker depends on the store’s opening and closing time. One of the major benefits of an Amazon Locker is being able to pick up your order on evenings and weekends.
Benefits Of Amazon Locker
Amazon Locker is popular with people who live in large cities, in buildings with small mailboxes, or places with no doorman. For those who live in houses, but have experienced porch thieves, the Amazon Locker option is also ideal and more secure. The main benefit is security, but customers can also enjoy the convenience; and reliability of anytime package pickup.;
Locker hubs are also eligible to accept customer returns. For customers not wanting to go to a shipping store or post office, they can select the Locker as the return point when initiating a return in their Amazon account. After printing a label and packaging their return, customers simply deposit it at the Locker location using the coded entry.
Locker is free to use in the US and there are no lines, and no waiting. In the UK, Locker is free for Prime members but non-Prime members will be charged £2.99 for One-Day delivery or £5.99 for Same-Day delivery of eligible items.
Locker is also kind of amusing in execution. Each one is individually named. Customers can pickup packages with friendly help from Chichi, Flavius, Iona, or Pamela, or thousands of others across the world.
There are some limits to Amazon Locker. Large and bulky items are not eligible for Locker delivery. This means customers ordering things like furniture or mattresses will be out of luck. Amazon Locker is also not available in all locations, towns, or cities.
How Do I Ship Products To An Amazon Locker
I want to give a couple of books to my husband as a surprise, but hes always home and always opens any package we receive. How do Amazon Lockers work and how can I have something delivered to an Amazon Locker?
You have exactly the right solution to your problem with an Amazon Locker. Used to be if you wanted to surprise someone, youd have a friend or neighbor receive or intercept the package, but in most communities, there are banks of lockers available at the local market, gas station, or similar. If you do have that option, its really simplicity itself to order things and set the delivery address to your local locker, rather than your home or place of work.
Better yet, theres no additional fee or charge and many Lockers have 24-hour pickup so you can swing by on the way home from a shift and grab your books, whether its 6pm or 3am. You do, however, have to pay attention when you select which locker youre going to use because while some are available 24×7 there are others that are only business hours Monday-Friday, which could be really frustrating if you have speedy delivery just to have it wait a few days for you to finally gain access!
I needed to order a replacement USB-C cable a few days ago, so I decided it was the perfect opportunity to have that delivered to a local , rather than my house. To start, dont use one-click purchasing: You want to change the delivery address! Do that in the shopping cart. It looks like this:
You Can Now Have Your Amazon Packages Delivered To Whole Foods
Whole Foods was acquired by Amazon back in August 2017. While there have been few subtle changes throughout the store, Amazon is offering a new service at the Whole Foods location in Franklin, at 1566 W McEwen Dr.
Amazon lockers were delivered to the Franklin location recently. Instead of delivering a package to your home or business address, you can select an Amazon Locker location and pick up your package at your convenience and without worry of it getting stolen. You will be notified once your package is delivered to the Amazon Locker by e-mail notification with a unique pickup code that includes the address and opening times for your selected Locker location.
When you arrive to collect your package, enter your pickup code or scan the barcode using the barcode scanner and follow the instructions on the screen.
There is a time limit on picking up packages from the lockers. All packages delivered to Amazon Locker locations must be picked up within three days. If youre not able to collect your package within this timeframe, the package will be returned to Amazon for a refund.
You can add an Amazon Locker to your address book from your computer or mobile device. Once the address is in your address book, you can select Ship to this address during the checkout process and complete your order as usual. Us Post Office General Delivery
The other, second option is to use the good ol’ Post Office. Yup, good ol’ USPS. Kevin and Ruth Read, a longtime traveling couple, suggests using the General Delivery service that some post offices offer.
According to the USPS FAQ, this little used option is intended to be a …a mail service for those without a permanent address, often used as a temporary mailing address.
This also works for people who don’t have an address. Sounds like me.
The package gets sent to a post office where it is held until the recipient picks it up. Mail and packages won’t be held for no more than than 30 days, unless requested by sender or addressee and approved by postmaster.
To be sure of timing, check out the official FAQ, but the post office is at least required to hold it for at least 10 days.
To check if a specific post office offers General Delivery, it must be a service listed on the USPS website. I actually highly recommend checking this beforehand since not every post office offers the service.
It is also a good idea to check if the post office is open the day the package is scheduled to arrive there will be no one there to accept the package on a Sunday!
Once that’s all done, all is left is addressing the package correctly on Amazon. Per the Reads’ instructions:
Here’s an example of how it should be addressed…
