‘is It Cheaper On Amazon’ Fun Checker App

Whether you’ve spotted some trainers on a blog or seen a playhouse in a shop, we’ve a nifty trick to check if similar items are available on Amazon for less .

The best way to try this is to download the free and have a play. Tap the search bar followed by the camera symbol, point your phone’s camera at an item and hit ‘Start’. The app will search Amazon for matching objects and list lookalike items for sale.

When we tried it, the app found similar items with varying degrees of success. Products it worked well on included a leather handbag, pink piggybank, electronic calculator and yellow cushion on other items though, including a pair of shoes, it failed to find a match.

When it does work, it can be a handy way of finding a visually similar item. For example, we snapped a £595 John Lewis chandelier, and it produced a similar one for sale at £53, including delivery though of course, there’s no guarantee of quality.

Use your phone as a barcode scanner

You can also use the app to scan barcodes, which can be a more reliable way of getting a closer match. So if you’ve seen something with a barcode, such as a game or a coffee machine, scan that instead.

To do it, open the Amazon app, tap the camera icon in the search bar, then scroll right until it says ‘Scan barcodes’. Your mobile now becomes a barcode scanner, via its camera.

Point your phone’s camera at the code and you’ll see it on screen the app will scan the code and then list identical items for sale.

Are Other Biggies Eg John Lewis Currys And Argos Price

Competition is stiff in the online retail market, but there’s not always an obvious cheapest price winner as several of the big retailers often price-match each other on popular items. We’ve noticed on many occasions when looking at selected items on Amazon, that same item will be the exact-same cheapest price at one or more other retailers, namely Argos, Currys and John Lewis.

In this case, don’t just look at the price also see if any extras are being offered, such as a longer warranty, a ‘freebie’ when you purchase the product or free music streaming for a certain number of months.

Buying A Book Without A Subscription Bizarrely Buying The Kindle Book First Can Slash The Cost

This sounds odd, but it’s often much cheaper to buy a Kindle book first and then opt for the audiobook as an addition, rather than just buy the audiobook outright.

For example, when we checked this week we found Violet by SJI Holliday for 99p on Kindle, and it then cost a further £3.49 to add the audiobook. That’s £4.48 in total a massive £12.40 saving on the audiobook’s £16.88 list price. Though of course it doesn’t beat paying £3.99/mth above so that subscription trick may still be worth trying first if you can.

To see if you can cut the upfront cost of an Audible book via this Kindle trick, go to Amazon and search for the title’s Kindle e-book. Below the ‘Buy now’ button, there’s usually a button to ‘Add an Audible narration’ at an extra charge. Compare the total cost with the audiobook’s normal price to see if it wins.

It’s worth noting you don’t actually need a Kindle for this trick to work you can buy a Kindle e-book without actually owning the device, and listen to the audiobook via your phone, for example.

Got lots of Kindle books? Quickly check which you can get as a cheap audiobook

If you’re a Kindle fan, log on to Amazon’s Matchmaker Tool* to see which of your Kindle titles you can add an audiobook to, for a usually reasonable charge. A quick check on my list revealed upgrades including Once Upon a River by Diane Setterfield for £2.99 and The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne for £2.99 .

How To Provide Outstanding Customer Service

You cant do anything wrong if your Amazon customer benefits. Amazon itself is the most customer-centric company in the world. They expect the same standard from you as a seller.

Your best marketing tool on Amazon today will be outstanding customer service.

Your goal should be to create a wow experience which will help spread word of mouth.

To explain, what I mean by wow experience, I want to share a success email we received:

We not only exceeded his expectation but we surpassed anything that I could have expected! In the end, he helped us fix the issue by sending us images and he will recommend our iPad Pro cases to his management team.

This how you turn a negative into a positive.

Tool Finds Cheap Items To Help You Hit The 20 Free Delivery Threshold For Non

If you don’t have Prime, Amazon charges for delivery on orders under £20 in most cases. But there’s a trick to help you get free delivery if your item doesn’t reach that threshold and is sold and dispatched by Amazon itself. It doesn’t work for Marketplace items, unless they’re dispatched by Amazon.

Standard delivery can be anything from 99p to £4.49, so it may be worth buying something small that you need which costs less than that, to take you over the £20 free delivery threshold. The threshold drops if your order includes £10 or more of books from Amazon in that case, all other items from Amazon in the order will be delivered free too.

To help, a cunning Super Saver Delivery tool scours Amazon for small filler items to bump up your order to £20. Simply enter your basket total and it displays a list of items with prices close to the cost of the difference. For example:

Imagine Lois Price wanted a £19.63 hairdryer she’d face £4.49 delivery, a total of £24.12. The tool reveals she could add a 45p birthday candle, so she’d only pay £20.08.

Items bought from third parties on Amazon’s Marketplace count towards the £20 free delivery threshold if they are marked as ‘fulfilled by Amazon’.

Amazon Prime Day 2021 Sale: How To Find The Best Deals

Amazon’s Prime Day 2021 sale will bring a large number of deals and bundled offers, available exclusively to Prime subscribers. Just like last year, we’ll be scanning through all these deals to bring you the best tech deals and offers during the Prime Day sale event. We’ve also prepared a few simple tips to help you find the best deals for yourself during this year’s Prime Day sale.

1. Plan early, add products to your wishlist ahead of the saleWhile the sale begins on Monday, Amazon has already started teasing some of the upcoming deals and offers. Amazon hasn’t exactly revealed the deal prices yet, but you can get a good sense of what you’ll find at a discounted price during the sale.

In case you’ve made up your mind already on what you want to buy during Prime Day, the best first step is to add it to your wishlist or your shopping cart. This way, you’re likely to be able to check out early and even receive a notification if those products go on a Lightning Deal.

2. Arrive early and grab the best deals before they go out of stockAs we mentioned earlier, the best deals tend to run out quickly. In case you’re looking to grab the best possible deals, make sure you arrive early as the Prime Day 2021 sale goes live. This could mean checking out at the sale at midnight or early in the morning. Lightning Deals are limited period offers that include products in small quantities, offered at a decent discount. These tend to run out quickly during Prime Day sale events.

Keep Your Prices Stable With Exceptions

Find Best Price on Amazon

To build customer trust and a sustainable long-term brand on Amazon, keep your prices stable.

There are, of course, exceptions.

  • The number one reason for price deviations is to increase your sales rank, which results in more organic sales later.
  • The second reason for price cuts is cross-selling your products, which in the end also results in better sales rank for all products included in the cross-selling promotion.
  • Usually, this means cutting your prices close to break-even or below profitability. This is most often done during new product launches.

My company deviates from our standard prices mainly in the following contexts:

    • New Product Launches
    • We offer 15% launch discount for all customers
    • We offer up to 50% price cuts for repeat customers on our email list
  • Cross Selling
  • We offer up to 40% discount for bundles sales. e.g. If a customer buys an iPad case, he will get a 40% discount for an Apple pencil case
  • Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Other Holidays
  • Stock Clearance
  • In case you have overstock, this can help get rid of your overstock. It can also revive a dead product.
  • Finally, before you even think about cutting prices below profitability, always keep in mind that you will only have fun selling on Amazon once you can generate organic sales with a decent profit margin.

    Use Amazon Sponsored Product Placements

Finding The Lowest Price on Amazon with Multiple Colors ...

Amazon Sponsored Products is by far the fastest way to get your product on the first page of Amazon search results.

Amazon Sponsored Products work similar to Google AdWords, where you bid on search terms.

If a person is searching on Amazon for your product, you can buy an ad relative to those search terms, and your offer will appear next to the best results.

The great thing about Amazon Sponsored Products is that it is very easy to set up. You can do it in a matter of minutes.

We did realize pretty early in the process, though, that even in a simple interface, you have to manage your account carefully and regularly to avoid an exploding marketing budget.

There are two main reasons for this.

  • First, Amazon is continually improving the algorithm, meaning your successful campaign today will lose money tomorrow.
  • Second, the competition on your ads is getting tougher as more sellers enter the marketplace. Amazon has also opened the sponsored products program to Amazon Retail clients.
  • I recommend either having someone in-house watching your campaigns very closely or working with who is managing our account for us.

    Maybe Wait For Prime Day

Usually held once a year, is a two-day sales event where you can score great deals on several Amazon products , as well as those from other companies.

Robotic vacuums, coffeemakers and teeth-whitening strips were some of the top-selling products this past June.

Hey, you know Prime Day is a big deal when the company hired three Grammy winners to perform: superstar Billie Eilish, H.E.R. and rapper Kid Cudi.

How To Get The Best Amazon Prices

To avoid falling for the first, higher price, always click on the link to view additional vendors and prices. Then, rank the vendors by price + shipping.

However, while this is Amazons least biased way of ranking, it still gives preference to Amazons own products and vendors. Thats because Amazon products, and the companies that qualify as Fulfilled by Amazon, are ranked by base price only shipping costs are not factored in when comparing to the other vendors.

Thats fine if youre a Prime shopper or expect to meet the minimum required to receive free shipping. But if youre not a Prime shopper, and youre nowhere near the $49 minimum, this missing information can make it tedious to find the cheapest option. In that case, a shopper should take the Amazon option through checkout to find the delivery costs, and compare that to what other vendors offered.

What The Different Amazon Grades Mean

Amazon has five different grades it assigns to items it resells. Here they are with brief explanations of what Amazon means by them.

Renewed: This is the highest grade an Amazon Warehouse item can receive and is on par with what other companies might call “refurbished.” Renewed items have been closely inspected and tested and determined to look and function like new and come with a 90-day replacement or refund guarantee. The “refreshed” Roku Express Plus I ordered had never even been opened.

The Amazon Warehouse listing for this product in Good condition costs $121.79. The same item in Very Good condition costs almost $7 more. Either option, however, seems better to me than paying $164.99 for it brand-new.

Used, Like New: No noticeable blemishes or marks on the item itself, although the packaging may be damaged, incomplete or missing altogether. All accessories are included, and any damage to the package will be described in the listing. The box for the Like New Evenflo locking gate I saved $6 on was a little banged up, but I’ve seen way worse on Walmart’s shelves. The gate itself was flawless.

Used, Very Good: The item has been lightly used, with minor visible indications of wear and tear, but is otherwise in good working order. Packaging might be damaged, incomplete or the item repackaged. Any missing accessories will be mentioned in the listing. I saved $4 on a Very Good Bosch Icon wiper blade that had, like, one scuff on it.
