Find Low Competition Keywords Triggering Product Ads On Google
In order to drive traffic to your product you sell on Amazon, you want to choose low competition keywords that trigger product ads on Google.

If you see several low DR sites on page one of Google thats a signal that the niche is less competitive. Take a look at the two screenshots above. All I did was enter in super broad amazon product categories into Ahrefs keyword explorer and I got back tons of keywords. Rainshower headseems interesting.
How To Find These Products
Alright, so now that youve read about 10 places you can buy products to sell on Amazon, now, how do you go about finding these products? Are there certain products available at cheaper prices during specific times of year? Does it really make a difference if you buy from one store over another? Lets talk about that!
Research Whats Popular On Amazon
If youre wanting to easily sell a product on Amazon, check out Amazons best sellers list. There are a variety of categories that youll be able to look through. When looking at each category, youll see the top 100 products at the time of your search. This list often changes, so its important to keep up with it.
Doing this is an easy and quick way to make some extra cash on Amazon. You can start by privately labeling a product thats found on the top 100 list. This means that you choose your product and then youll need to find a supplier that makes said product. Create your own label and packaging and youve got yourself a sale.
This is great if youre not the creative type and dont have resources to create an entirely new product. Selling a brand new product has a higher chance of failing and, thus, youll lose money. Finding a product that people already love is more of a guarantee that youll be successful in your efforts.
Selling Under Specific Criteria
1. For starters, youll be more successful if your product is small and lightweight. This makes it easier to ship and store if youre buying in bulk.
Dont Forget Google Trends
Google Trends is an accessible research tool that you should be using in the process of finding products to sell. This tool highlights popular items and helps you zone in on the ideal products in certain periods. The comparison from the search tab also gives you helpful insights about the products you are considering.
Looking at Google Trends will give you a big picture of the top sellers in a wide array of categories. The idea is not to choose trending products, but you can give it a try.

Learn From Amazon Product Listings
Heres an Amazon bestselling game called What Do You Meme. In the product description, you can find all the information on what makes it a sellers goldmine.

In the product description, you will find various information about the product, such as product dimension, weight, etc. From there, you can determine if your product is an evergreen one.
Lookout for the following criteria to find the most sellable and profitable items:
- Item pricing: The item is priced at $29.99. The pricing is perfect as it falls under the pricing bracket of $10 to $50.
- Product dimensions and weight: Here you can find that the product weighs 2.78 pounds and has dimensions of 6.5 x 4.5 x 3 inches. This size and weight will help in cutting down the shipping cost.
- Overall specs and sales ranking: You will find that the Amazon BSR of this product is 3. This is way under the BSR 5000 rank. Also, it can be found under the toys and games category easily.
- Customer reviews: You will find that the product has more than 2000 reviews from consumers. This is way beyond the 500+ reviews rank making it a well-trusted product. This also indicates that the product has a lot of demand in the market.
Look For Products With High Demand
My rule of thumb has long been to look for products to sell on Amazon that are already selling at least 10 units per day or 300 units per month. Usually, products like these have Amazon Best Seller Rankings of 10,000 15,000, although it varies from category to category.
The reason you want to have a product that sells 300 units per month is because most orders you do with manufacturers via Alibaba will have minimum order quantities of 500-1000 units. Therefore, if the product sells 300 units or more, youll have 2-3 months of inventory and wont overstock.

Go For Products With Sales Prices Between $20
In addition to finding products to sell on Amazon with good margins, high demand, and low competition, youre going to want to sell your product for at least $20, and typically not too much higher than $50. The reason you dont want to sell products for less than $20, is because after fees and product costs, theres not much left for PPC ads or profit.

Use Current Events To Your Advantage
Using current events to your advantage doesnt mean you need to closely follow the news every day, but just be aware of trends and events going on around the world. If youre selling toys, try to find out what the trends for the holidays next year will be. Make sure to sell those products at the right time, to generate more sales.
But also keep an eye on pop culture and global events. If theres a new superhero movie coming out, you can use that to your advantage by selling merchandising, toys or other related products. With a specific domain name, a targeted design and the right products, you can definitely compete with other major players in the field.
Use Amazon Reviews To Find Product Market Gaps
When deciding what items you should purchase for selling on Amazon, its important to get a feel for what the customer wants. Vendors might have the time and budget for focus groups to get consumer feedback as to desired products and what they like and dont like. But, this doesnt work for all vendors.
Since many vendors dont have the time or budget to do so, mining Amazon customer reviews is a timely and cost efficient way to decide what you should be selling on Amazon and why.
If youre thinking about selling a specific product, research Amazon reviews and keep the following things in mind:
- What items people are raving about
- Look for unsatisfied customers with a particular product
- Use the complaints to modify your prospective product
When you dive into Amazon reviews youll get a firsthand look at what people love or hate about a certain product. You can take that information into consideration when you decide what products to sell and if you should make any modifications to the product you are going to sell.

Check Out The Amazon Best Sellers List
If you want a really good idea of the products that people want most, then the best sellers list on Amazon is a fantastic first place to start. You can search in any category you have interest in and jot down the items that catch your eye. Try to eliminate seasonal items so you can maintain consistency throughout the year.
Competitors With Low Review Counts
Reviews are huge on Amazon.
Its not the only ranking factor for products, but theres a reason that many of the top results on page 1 have tons of reviews, that are mostly positive.
Amazons goal is to sell products, so they like showing products that convert the best near the top of their search rankings.
Since thousands of glowing reviews tend to convert lookers into buyers, theres a direct correlation between lots of positive reviews and high search rankings on Amazon.
If every product on page 1 of the results for your main keyword has over 50 reviews, that could be problematic for you.
Thats not to say its impossible, but getting 50 reviews takes awhile and that means youre going up against some pretty entrenched, long term sellers who have a nice sales history on Amazon. Generally, you dont open an Amazon seller account and end up on page one the next day in a competitive niche.
So if youre looking for an easier win, then looking for keywords with multiple products on page 1 with less than 50 reviews. If there are some with less than 10 reviews or even NO reviews even better!
This simply means that if you follow a nice launch formula and start picking up a few reviews in the early days of your product going live, youll have a better shot at getting to page 1 in the short term.

Checklist Of Amazon Product Research Requirements
Here is a quick checklist of what is required to come up with the right product. With these criteria, your job gets easier.
Create Your Own Products
Fully control the manufacturing of a particular item
If you want to have total control over your products and brand, you can make your own.
For example, you could develop your own cosmetics line. Youd come up with your own formula for foundations, mascaras, lipsticks, etc., find a manufacturer that will make and package the products for you, and then sell them on Amazon. Learn more about finding your own eCommerce niche.
Of course, this is more expensive and time-consuming than wholesale or private label, but youd be in total control.
Pro Tip: Look into trademarking your brand and/or products to protect yourself from counterfeiters and scammers.

Improving Upon An Existing Product
Ideally you want to launch products that are a little bit better than the competition, and oftentimes its not a huge hassle to pull that off. You can simply communicate with the manufacturer, and make a few small tweaks, without having to reinvent the entire product.
It wont really take any extra time on your part, and youll wind up with a better product that has your own brand name on it, thats also not infringing on anybodys patents or trademarks.
You might have noticed that a majority of the products being sold on Amazon are very generic.
Most products are just people slapping their brands logo on a generic product, or swapping out materials, and adding features
So if you can find a supplier thats making generic versions of your ideal product, then you can simply put your own brand name and logo on it. Thats a perfect sign your product idea is an amazing option for selling on Amazon FBA. These types of products have what we call private label potential.
What Does The Perfect Fba Product Look Like
If youve read previous articles on this topic, they have probably recommended the following guidelines to look for in a product.
- relatively high value per size/weight
- not fragile/breakable
- not hazmat
Using these limited criteria, you might be thinking that a diamond ring is light, expensive, almost non-breakable.it must be a perfect product. Right? Wrongwho buys their engagement rings on Amazon? You probably also read this:
- Product Requirement: Similar Products Have a 5,000 Best Seller Rank or Smaller in Main Category
This guideline is ridiculous. Products with best seller rank 5,000 in Sports & Outdoors will perform less than sellers than ranked 15,000 in the Home and Kitchen category. And this
- No Brand Names within Product Category
Well, this is an interesting opinion Some experts say that you cant sell basketball balls, headphones, keyboards, bed sheets, car parts or any cell phone cases?
Once I find the time Ill read that expertise to see how they came to that conclusion, Im curious though it has nothing to do with common sense.
Another situation is when one product dominates the market and they have built enough trust and authority to draw most customers to them. Competing against them is pure masochism.
Okay, this is true, butby picking a lightweight item, you can also limit yourself. There are fewer competitors on large items. That being said, all the above is true but not enough for a profitable product to sell.

Optimization Of Current Listing
What we mean by this is that if there are results on the first page that have poor listings, there exists an opportunity to outrank and outsell them even if they are selling well now.
This generally means that the competition is going to be weak and that it will be easy to reach the first page ourselves even if we have a product very close to it!

Only Source Items That Are Smallish Lightish And Durable
Stay away from big items the shipping costs will really eat into your profit margins. The same goes with heavy products. The smaller and lighter of a product Amazon can put into a box, the less shipping costs. As for durability, this helps safeguard you from customer complaints, and from lazy shippers who handle packages like theyre auditioning for the Olympic javelin event.
