Is The Deal/ Price Too Good To Be True Well It Probably Is

Like every other market you find yourself in, a deal that is too good to be true, is too good to be true, and you must avoid it.

Hucksters will, however, lurk around the marketplace to scam unsuspecting customers or anyone looking for the cheapest deals, meaning that you should be cautious. In the very least, check the prices of similar products before you opt for that deal of a lifetime.

Note that even though Amazon offers great sales from time to time for vendors doing well, it doesnt happen all the time, and Amazon will offer the discount, not the vendor.

Youll Need To Try To Settle Disputes Yourself

Because neither Amazon nor Etsy has direct access to order information for transactions sold and fulfilled by third-party sellers, they encourage customers to work through any issues directly with the seller before theyll step in. A dispute could be something like requesting a refund from a seller with a no-returns policy for an item that looks drastically different in person than it did online.

This process can be time-consuming, especially if youre dealing with an international seller. As I mentioned, one of the sellers I bought from was overseas. It took hours to get responses to my inquiries, largely due to the time difference. Id send a message in the morning and get a reply back at midnight. Be sure to document correspondence with a third-party seller just in case you have to escalate the situation to customer service at Amazon or Etsy.

Are Walmart Third Party Sellers Legit

Just like any online marketplace, Walmarts Marketplace is full of legitimate and excellent third-party sellers, as well as a few bad apples. While Walmart does have anti-counterfeit measures in place, it is still possible to get fake products.

Common counterfeit items include popular brands like Yeti, Urban Decay, Uggs, Apple and more. Brand name shoes and clothes are also more likely to be fakes. The simple solution is to avoid shopping for high-end brands on Walmart.com. Stick to more reputable retailers that carry these brands.

We cant prove that;this Louis Vuitton bag is a fake, for example, but the seller only has one review and its negative. There are also complaints against the seller elsewhere;on the web.

    Check The Seller Reviews

Why Your Amazon Purchase Could Come From the Garbage | WSJ

Just like most items on the Internet, seller reviews on Amazon are easy to fake. Sellers will buy up items from themselves dozens of times right away, using their own money to pay themselves without ever shipping any products, leaving fake reviews from multiple accounts on their seller profiles. Check a sellers reviews using the same techniques as you do on other websites, especially if you see multiple identical or single-word user responses.

The good news is that Amazon seems to be taking fake sellers more seriously than they used toformerly I saw them on a fairly regular basis, but I had trouble even finding relevant examples for this article. The better news is that Amazon guards its reputation fiercely. If youve been scammed by a fake seller that disappears into the night, just : odds are pretty good that theyll be eager to return your money.

Why You Must Contact A Seller On Amazon

You order an item on Amazon through a third-party seller, and then you realize youve ordered the wrong size of the product or there is confusion about the number of products. What would you do in that situation? Texting Amazon customer service center and waiting for them to reply? Your item might be packed and on the way to you in the waiting time. Or will you accept losing money to receive something that doesnt fit? That is the reason why you need to contact the third-party immediately. The main purpose is that you completely can communicate with the seller about the product that you have confused about and offered a mutually beneficial solution.

    Brand And Intellectual Property Protection

First and foremost, any Amazon channel partner should be in compliance with the brands guidelines. This includes adhering to all distributor and reseller agreements, especially those related to pricing . A third-party seller who ignores a brand’s pricing policies threatens to diminish the value of their products and cause irreparable damage to other retail channels.

Additionally, a key component of brand and intellectual property protection is attending to customer service inquiries. While a third-party seller may be fulfilling the order, Amazon customers will almost always associate their shopping experience with the brand itself. If a third-party seller fails to adequately address customer concerns in a timely fashion, it reflects poorly on the brand, not the seller.

    An easy way to validate a third-party sellers performance is to look at their seller rating, found on Amazon by clicking the highlighted name of the seller. When looking for a trusted third-party seller, you should make sure their seller rating is 99% or higher. If a third-party seller doesnt meet this threshold, it may mean they are not in compliance with Amazon’s customer service guidelines, leaving shoppers frustrated and damaging brand equity.;

Is It Safe To Buy From Amazon Third

Yes, the third-party sellers on can be safe, as long as you are buying items from Amazon. I am a third-party seller on Amazon.com for many years. However, this doesnt mean that this eCommerce site is 100% secure and free of scammers. Like all other marketplaces, you will find scammers trying to make away with your hard-earned money, which is why you need to be extra careful when shopping from third-party sellers.

To be safe, you should avoid the sellers whose products come with limited feedback, the low-rated sellers, as well as the sellers that charge abnormally-high fees for shipping. Generally, trustworthy sellers will boast a wide range of reviews over their lifetime on the platform, and everything about their products and reviews/ ratings will look realistic.

On the bright side, it isnt quite easy to falsify seller ratings on the platform because Amazons data is based on algorithms that will consider customer complaints and ratings, the number of returns, and shipping timelines, among other considerations. So, a top-rated seller is often a genuine seller, and you can trust them.

Dont forget to check the sellers website. In most cases, scam sellers will either lack a website, or if they have a website, its incomplete with a very skeleton feel. A reliable seller, on the other hand, will have a complete website featuring all the products also listed on their Amazon seller profile.

Be Wary If The Prices Have Been Inflated Then Discounted

How to redeem an Amazon gift card on Amazon

Overinflated list prices are another thing to watch out for, says Lovett. If something like a plastic garbage can has a list price of $5,000 and its been marked down to $10, odds are the seller is trying to make their listing more appealing by showing a higher discount. Still, price reductions arent always a sign to run. Older products, for example, sometimes receive price drops when newer models are introduced. A third-party seller may choose to use the original list price so it looks like the product is discounted, Lovett adds. Its still a little sketchy, but more understandable than a crazy markup like the garbage-can example. Of course, everyone wants a good deal, but its much smarter and safer to try these .

Theres No Such Thing As A Standard Shipping Policy

One of the biggest issues I had was dealing with a seller who had listed on its storefront page that its items shipped from New York, when in fact they shipped from China. Needless to say, my order took much longer to arrive than expected. Instead of four to seven days, it took two weeks.

To help avoid this type of inconvenience, contact the seller directly before you buy. Ask upfront where its products ship from. On Etsy, you can narrow down your store options to sellers who are located near you by using the Etsy Local function. This is helpful if youre in a time crunch and need to boost the odds of a product arriving by a certain date.

Be Competitive And Know Your Competition

It always pays to see what others are doing in your niche. See how theyre pricing their products, what type of marketing theyre using, how they are presenting and describing their products, how frequently they offer new products. Even if your Amazon store is doing well, there’s no guarantee itll stay that way. To avoid stagnation and stay profitable, it’s essential to keep up with the market.

A great way to do market research, especially on Amazon, is to read the positive and negative customer reviews. Find out what people hate and what people love about certain products then be sure that you meet those needs and avoid the pitfalls.

How To Avoid Thirty Party Sellers

i realize this is a huge issue so please understand that we are new sellers and this is a very specific question, any help would be appreciated.

We are in the process of relaunching our dog treat – new bag, new formula – and have new partners with lots of Amazon experience. They have advised us to put bar code stickers over the printed bar code FOR ALL BAGS GOING TO AMAZON. Apparently this will help us identify anybody who tries to buy up our product in retail stores and resell it on Amazon.

But heres my question – how would we be able to identify a third party sellers and would Amazon help us get rid of them if we didnt authorize them to sell our product?

    thank you!

They are suggesting that you put a new UPC on the food? That would make sense. Then when someone lists using the original bar code you will know it is someone who bought it from a store and is selling it. But wouldnt you know that anyhow? After all, you know who you distribute to, dont you?

And why do you want to stop them? The First Sale Doctrine allows them to resell the item. It is counterfeit sellers and MAP violators that you should be worried about, and you will know that they are a MAP violator by the price.

I hope you understand there is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent re-sellers of your product from selling on the listing as long as it matches the item exactly.

Amazon will not help you unless you can prove the product being sold is counterfeit.> thank you!

To add to what others have said.

Note Whether The Product Or Seller Has Amazons Seal Of Approval

When it comes to common marketplaces like Amazon who retail in third-party suppliers, look for the sellers they have faith in, advises Brandon Kovach, founder of the Kovach Companies Inc. If offers Prime or one-day shipping, then you know this is an established market partner for these vendors and they have been vetted. By checking reviews and working with Amazon-vetted sellers, he adds, you minimize the risk of being burned. Of course, for buyers, membership always comes with privilegesbut not everyone knows about these .

Are There Fees For Selling On Amazon

What To Sell On Amazon: How To Find + Choose Profitable ...

Yes, you do have to pay a fee for the privilege of selling on Amazon. If you sell more than 40 products a month, you’ll qualify for the professional plan, and youll pay $39.99 per month, as well as other fees for things like Amazon personnel handling your products. You can opt for a more modest plan, and pay $0.99 per sale, as well as other fees.

Of course, if you compare these fees to the traditional model of having a brick and mortar business with rent, utilities, employees, etc. there really is no comparison to how inexpensive this really is. In many cases, this is cheaper than renting a table at a flea market
