The Correct Way To Enter Keywords
Hi,Weve been selling on amazon for a while and are trying to optimise listings to increase sales.Weve come across some conflicting info regarding the correct way to enter keywords. What is officially correct?
Like to know the official hatting on that feature.Ive always left a space only.Maybe the space is unnecessary?
Always thought that they should just have one field with a limit on the total characters, rather than having to slot it into 5 fields. Seems silly, not knowing the IT reasons for it. All gets back to Amazon telling us how to use the thing correctly.
I hope somebody from Amazon will help us with this !
I am completely in the dark about it.
I always use commas, but would prefer not to, so that variations on a several words out of a selection would be more likely to be picked up
This is how I normally do it
Rare, Limited Edition, With Slipcase
I want to know if someobdy looking for ” rare slipcase ” would be directed.
Maybe I should just put
Rare Limited Edition With Slipcase
Any help, mucho appreciated !
According to the amazon seller help page:
Search termsThere are five fields for you to enter key search words. Each field can contain up to 50 characters +separated by spaces, not commas.+ The title, EAN/UPC, manufacturer, and merchant are added automatically. Dont waste characters by repeating these words.
If you use a feed file to upload then you use a comma eg.
I have experimented with this.
Performance Management And Sales Metrics In Amazon Seller Central
Regardless of what you sell on Amazon.com, it’s important that you be able to see how you’re doing when it comes to shipping products on time, providing good customer service, and product policy compliance.
Amazon Seller Central provides several ways to track these metrics and performance. Hover over the Performance tab at the top of the page and click on Account Health to get started.
This will take you to an Account Health dashboard. From here, you can get a bird’s-eye view of your performance across key indicators.
If You Plan To Use Amazons Fulfillment By Amazon Program Will You Co
I very much recommend using FBA, given its potential visibility to 100MM+ Amazon Prime customers.
If you decide to go that route, youll need to decide whether you plan to co-mingle your products with FBA inventory of other sellers of the same products.
Amazon gives FBA sellers this potentially lethal option of sending product into Amazons Fulfillment Centers, where they might get co-mingled with other FBA sellers product.
This may result in your products getting mixed up with counterfeit or low-grade versions of what you purport to be selling.
Unfortunately, if a co-mingled unit gets picked to fulfill an order on your account, you are left explaining to Amazon why a customer complained about getting a counterfeit item.
You need to work through this issue very early on because if you decide to use FBA but not use the co-mingled option, you need to activate your account to become a stickered FBA account before ever creating your first FBA shipment into Amazon.
While it is possible to become a stickered account later on, it can quickly become very complicated if you have already sent some product into FBA as a stickerless product.

Amazon Bullet Points Guidelines
The Amazon product detail page bullet points aka Key Product Features section is located under the Descriptions tab. Product features are the second most important factor in surfacing your products. Amazon shoppers rely pretty heavily on bullet points to gather product information. The more descriptive the bullet points for your product pages, the more you will sell on Amazon.
What to include in bullet points:
- Highlight the top five features that you want your customers to consider, such as dimensions, warranty information or age appropriateness.
- Begin each bullet point with a capital letter
- Write in fragments and do not include ending punctuation
- Write all numbers as numerals
- Spell out measurements, such as quart, inch, or feet
What not to include in bullet points:
- Do not write vague statements be as specific as possible with product features and attributes
- Do not enter company-specific information this section is for product features only
- Do not include promotional and pricing information
- Do not include shipping or company information. Amazon policy prohibits including the seller, company, or shipping information
Amazon Product Descriptions
Product descriptions are typically a few paragraphs long, and they may require some light HTML. If youre selling products in a category that Amazon regulates, make sure you read all requirements before your listing gets taken down for using the wrong terms.

What Is A Product Id
Product ID is one of the mandatory fields to be entered while creating new product listings on Amazon.in. It is nothing but the bar-code of your product and is also known as Global Trade Item Number UPC, EAN, JAN or ISBN.
Getting GTIN exemptions While GTIN/UPC is a mandatory attribute for creating new listings on Amazon, you can create listings without GTIN under certain conditions. This process is called GTIN exemption. You need to obtain exemption for a particular brand in a specific product category. It is also required if you are not a brand owner and still want to sell your products.

Overall Cost For Selling On Amazon
The cost to sell on Amazon depends on which selling plan you choose.
As we mentioned earlier, Amazon sellers can choose between a Professional or Individual selling plan. Individual sellers pay $0.99 for each item sold on Amazon, in addition to variable closing fees ranging from $0.45 to $1.35. Professional sellers pay variable closing fees and referral fee percentages ranging from 6% to 25% . Professional sellers also pay $39.99 per month but are exempt from the $0.99 per item fee.
Referral fees and variable closing fees are subtracted from the overall sale .
Note: Merchants who pay a monthly subscription fee of $39.99 to be a Pro Merchant Subscriber DO NOT have to pay the Amazon Marketplace $0.99 per item fee . If you sell more than 40 products a month then the Professional Seller Program is a no-brainer.
Amazon seller fees for a professional seller include:
- A monthly subscription fee of $39.99
- Referral fees on each item sold
- Variable closing fees
Amazon seller fees for an individual seller include:
- No monthly subscription fee
- USD$ 0.99 fee for each item sold
- Variable closing fees
Other fees, such as shipping and gift wrap, are paid for by the customer. Heres an example of those Amazon selling fees in action:

GS1 is a non-profit organization that has set the global standard for supply chain barcoding.
There are more than 100 GS1 organizations around the world GS1 US is the organization that serves US businesses. GS1 issues unique prefixes to brand owners so that they can create their own unique barcodes containing the prefix number given to them by GS1.

In Seller Central, Amazon provides a dashboard for this.
Recently, Amazon added new components to the Seller Central platform that you also need to check regularly, as well.

Getting Upset With Customers
Sometimes Amazon customers are unreasonably demanding or argumentative. Youre guaranteed to encounter an overly-needy or irate person more than once when selling on Amazon. Avoid arguing with these shoppers at all costs.
Do your best to mitigate any issues or disagreements with your Amazon customers. Remember Amazon shoppers are accustomed to getting treated exceptionally well by Amazon .
Do You Plan To Use A Dba Name To Operate Your Amazon Seller Account
While some companies have legitimate reasons to use a different customer-facing name, Amazon is also a place where many sellers purposefully conceal their identity.
Reasons for doing this include not wanting brands to know that they are selling online, or the brand is actually the reseller and doesnt want its other retail partners to know that it is selling product online direct to consumer.

Understanding Of Basic Cost Structure Including Overhead Costs
Far too many sellers on Amazon understand only the basics of SKU-level profitability, resulting in a blended view of the sellers overall profitability, rather than a pinpoint perspective on which SKUs drive what percentage of profits, while understanding .
Too many Amazon sellers dont know their profitability until the end of the year when their accountant announces the final numbers, hopefully to the sellers relief.
Its critical for sellers to understand and compile all of their overhead costs, and recognize that these expenses need to be integrated into the running total of costs that a seller incurs selling on Amazon.
Explore An International Amazon Strategy
In the beginning stages, most Amazon sellers will experience a combination of both excitement and fear when it comes to selling products internationally.
Common concerns like credit-card fraud and shipping delays may seem overwhelming at first, but with the right guidance, sellers can avoid common mistakes and simplify their global expansion process.
The decision to go global is often driven by a combination of many factors, some financial and others marketing, merchandising or operations related. It can be lucrative for some sellers, and not for others research carefully.
