Tips To Get More For Your Tech

Make $2,000 Per Month Selling Used Electronics On Amazon FBA (No Scam, Step By Step, 100% Legit)
  • Be proactive about selling. The best time to sell something secondhand is the moment you realize you dont need it, says Jon Lowe, head of communications at Letgo. That not only reduces clutter but also gets you the highest price, because tech products tend to decrease in value from one year to the next.
  • Protect your privacy. Before you sell a digital device that once housed personal data, perform a factory reset to scrub it clean. You dont want bank account info, family images, or your browsing history lingering on the machine and in the hands of someone you don’t know.
  • Presentation is key. Better photos get you better offers, Lowe says. Before snapping the picture, find a spot with good light and an uncluttered background. Put smaller items, such as headphones or a smartwatch, on a solid-colored rug or bed.
  • Price fairly. Set a price thats competitive with other products in the marketplace. Some experts say bundling shipping costs can help your gadgets sell faster, too.
  • Be honest. While it may be tempting to fib about the products description, youre only inviting trouble. If you get labeled a con artist in a review, you wont be earning top dollar in future transactions. By including crucial details in your description, you also shield yourself from paying for return shipping if the buyer isnt satisfied with the product.

Get Your Pricing Right

Finding the right pricing strategy for your products is tough enough as is, but add Amazons complexities and an open marketplace for other sellers to compete with you and you have quite a handful. However, if you keep some key considerations in mind, you can hopefully prevent other larger issues from arising.

Pricing parity

Your selling agreement with Amazon includes a pricing parity clause. Your item price and total price cant be lower at any other online sales channel according to the general pricing rule. This includes your own Shopify site. Avoid a potential account suspension for not following this mandate and ensure that you price Amazon as low as your other channels.

Automate pricing

Since Amazon is a marketplace, you may very well be competing against other third parties to win the buy box. There are several repricing tools available on the market, and Amazon recently released the Automate Pricing tool on Seller Central to help you automate pricing decisions. For example, you can set a rule to beat the buy box by 2% until you reach a certain floor.

Ensuring you are winning the buy box regularly, and being alerted when you are losing the buy box, is essential to growing your Amazon business. Note that pricing for vendors has a different process from marketplace sellers.

This benefits you not only by allowing you to sell more units in a short amount of time, but it also temporarily lifts your baseline business post promotion .

Processes You Should Automate And Software To Help

Many new sellers make the mistake of focusing on the small stuff.

They are so eager to succeed on Amazon that they put all their effort into fine-tuning a single or handful of listings even though it makes almost no difference to the customer.

There is no software program that reshuffles your product images in different orders, rearranges your bullet points and A/B tests cozy versus comfy as adjectives in your listing title.

Yes, you want good listings with beautiful pictures. You want to generate some reviews.

But, with competition always on the same page and just a click away, remember that five minutes negotiating a better price with your supplier or using a cheaper shipping service is more valuable than spending 100 hours perfecting an Amazon listing.

Here are some tools you can use now.

Quickly Prep & Ship Products To Amazon Fba

Small parcel delivery and if youre sending the products from your house you would be using your own shipping services. It can be FedEx, DHL, UPS or even the US post office, whatever you like.

If a third party is sending your shipments ask them who theyre using to send your products in and they will give you all of that information.

Make sure all of shipping information is correct and ask your third party freight forwarder how much 1 box weights and what the dimensions are.

Otherwise, you can weigh the box in your house by stepping on a scale.

Print your box shipping labels.

In my example, the supplier factory address is my ship from address which is why the return address is Chinese. If youre shipping from your house then it would be your home address.

Here are the FBA Prep Requirements to get your products accepted into FBA warehouses.

You need to send the file of these labels to whoever is going to be doing the shipping for you if its not yourself.

Once you send your products into Amazon you will get a tracking number from your shipping company. If you sent 10 boxes then you should get 10 tracking numbers. Place the tracking numbers in your Amazon seller dashboard.

Make sure you take your product photos before sending your items in!

Product photography doesnt have to be expensive. We swear by it.

Amazon Vs Ebay For Selling Used Items

Before we dive into the details, lets take a moment to compare Amazon to its biggest used item competitor eBay for online sales.

When it comes to selling used items, Amazon isnt the only big name in the game to increase your bank account. Many people turn to eBay when trying to offload their extra goods for cash.

The amount you are willing to pay in fees, the level of convenience you wish for, and the items you are selling are all factors. However, which one will be best for you generally comes down to personal preference and if you want to save money or time.

The seller fees when your item sells will likely be lower for the same product for anyone using an Amazon seller account unless you are selling computers and electronics. Amazons fees generally come out on top in those two categories for those with a professional seller account.

If you are strapped for time, an Amazon FBA account will likely be your number one choice. After the initial professional account setup, selling with Amazon is a breeze. The only category where eBay may be quicker is rare and unique items.

Tracking down the UPC for a rare item so that you can list it on Amazon will be much more difficult than slapping your own photos on eBay.

If you arent looking to make this a consistent income stream and simply want to clean out your closet, eBay is probably the winner. Managing an Amazon FBA seller account is better suited for someone that wants to sell on a regular basis.

Setting Up Your Amazon Seller Central Account

If youre just starting out with Amazon and are going to go the retail arbitrage route, start with an Individual account .

You can sell up to 40 units per month, with a $0.99 fee-per-item on top of the referral fee that Amazon takes out depending on the product category of the item youre selling.

Evil Strategy #: Amazon Sellers Can Steal The Buy Box And Ship Poor Quality Items To Sabotage Your Listing

Over the holidays, one of the students in my Create A Profitable Online Store Course had a product that absolutely killed it. She managed to for a competitive keyword and she was making 5 figures per month off of a single product.

At the time, her product had a 4.5 star rating and things were great. But one day, she noticed that her sales had dropped to just a trickle and when she checked her listing, she noticed that someone else was selling her product for significantly cheaper and she no longer had the buy box.

    Heres the thing.

She designed these products herself so it was highly unlikely that this seller was selling the exact same thing. As a result, she did a test buy and when she received the item, she was shocked to see a poorly made imitation with a cheap copy of her packaging.

Even though she contacted Amazon, she got the run around and they did nothing about it. Meanwhile, negative reviews started trickling in and her search rankings started dropping.

Eventually, this seller went away but the damage was already done. She was left with a crippled listing that still hasnt fully recovered.

Unfortunately, this student learned the hard way not to depend on Amazon for 100% of your sales. Today, shes focusing a lot more time on her own website and diversifying across other channels.

What Categories Are Eligible To Be Sold As Used On Amazon

How to Sell Electronics on Amazon (with Pictures)

Amazon only allows certain categories of products to be listed as used, and its for good reason. Amazon wants to be sure that the products being sold on their website whether new or used are safe, authentic, and meet customer expectations.

Amazon isnt a flea market you cant just sell anything and everything that is used or preowned.

Amazon categories that allow used items are bolded in the chart below.

    Product Category
    Watches New

As you can see, you can list used items in plenty of categories on Amazon. Keep in mind that the items you want to sell still have to meet Amazons used condition guidelines.

    Amazons Used Condition Guidelines

, the following conditions are unacceptable to be listed on Amazon:

    • The item is dirty with mold, heavy staining, corrosion, or other signs of uncleanliness
    • The item has damage that impacts the ability to use it
    • The item is missing parts or accessories that are essential to use it
    • The product needs repairs
    • The item is a copy, counterfeit, replica, or imitation of an original product
    • The item was created for promotional purposes, such as a product sample or advance reading copy

Amazon Categories You Can Sell Used

As promised above, lets talk about what used items you are allowed to sell on Amazon. This is important because you arent allowed to just sell whatever you want.

Amazon wants to make sure their customers are happy, so they restrict what can and cant be sold as used on their platform. The idea is that all of the items on the site are up to par with customer expectations.

Used items are only allowed in the following product categories:

    • Amazon Device Accessories
    • Video Games

Add Your Products To Existing Listings

When youre selling used items, chances are theres already an existing listing for that product. Since Amazon does not allow multiple product pages for the same item, all you need to do is piggyback on those listings.

Go to and select Inventory Add a Product. You will then be taken to this page:

Search for the product or enter the ASIN, EAN, ISBN , or UPC. If you want to know the ASIN of the product, go to Amazon.com and search for the listing. You will find the ASIN in the following places:

After you have the right listing, select Used and click Apply to Sell and fill out the details.

Use Retail Arbitrage To Source Amazon Products

In retail arbitrage, you purchase deeply discounted retail products and resell them on Amazon. It sounds simple, but doing it rightmeaning profitablytakes some work. Retail arbitrage sellers are absolute pros when it comes to hunting up discounted and clearance deals in local stores and matching them with hot sellers on Amazon.

The secret is knowing whats selling well on Amazon on any given day, and for how much. You also need to clearly understand your cost of selling that item on Amazon. Amazon seller fees run about 15% of your selling price, and shipping orders can take a big bite out of your profits if youre not careful.

Luckily, there are tools to help you spot profitable bargains. Amazon pricing apps are the retail arbitrage sellers secret weapon. These are smartphone apps that let you scan item UPC codes and match them to current listings for that product on Amazon.

These apps deliver a wealth of information to help you price your products including the average selling price and buyer demand, your shipping or Fulfillment by Amazon costs, and your potential profit.

Using this information, you can decide if you should buy a product and how much inventory to stock based on the current demand and your profit potential.

You can also see detailed storage and shipping costs if using FBA for fulfillment. The FBA fulfillment option has its own costsbut managed right, it can be far cheaper and less time-consuming than handling fulfillment yourself.
