Almost Anyone Can List Products For Sale On Amazon
Unless a brand has tight distribution controls over its product, its not unusual to find dozens if not hundreds of resellers offering the same products on Amazon.
This crowding creates price competition, as well as incentives to ignore Minimum Advertised Pricing/Manufacturers Suggested Retail Pricing policies or to divert products at low margins, just to get some margin out of holding a particular brand.
How Do I Fulfill/ship A Product Once It Sells On Amazon
Okay, youve made a sale! Now what? Time to ship.
And although you cant really ship for free with Amazon, there are a number of things you can do to keep costs down.
Here are a few tips:
1. Use packing materials you already have
If youre like me, you probably have tons of boxes lying around probably even Amazon boxes! Reuse those boxes, plus any packing contents that came with them, such as air pillows, packing peanuts, or shredded paper. Just make sure you dont have old labels on the boxes and that they are in good condition.
2. Sell lightweight and small products
The smaller the product you sell, the lower your shipping costs will be. This is especially true with products like books and media products. Thanks to USPS Media Mail, you can ship a book that weighs less than 1 pound for less than $3.00.
3. Use Amazons Fulfillment by Amazon program
Did you know that Amazon will actually hold your products for you and ship them once they sell? Amazon does this as part of their .
Not only that, but the cost for Amazon to do this is often less than what it would cost you were you to do it yourself.
Plus, Amazon deducts the shipping costs from your funds as if it were a fee. That way, you can get around having to spend money out of pocket to ship the products you sell.
All you have to do is ship your products to Amazon and Amazon handles it from there.
Sell Handmade Goods On Amazon
Are you a craftsperson or artisan selling products that you make by hand? Do you want to explore this as a possible product sourcing option? If you answered yes to either question, then Amazon Handmade is the product category for you.
You have to apply to sell on Amazons Handmade section, and the requirements are stringentmore so than Etsy in many cases. In fact, many Amazon Handmade sellers are Etsy sellers looking to expand their reach by tapping into Amazons vast audience.
If approved to sell in Handmade, you can list and sell up to 40 items per month without paying for an Amazon Pro Seller account. However, if you grow beyond 40 sales, youll have to pay the monthly $39.95 Amazon Pro Seller account fee.
Either way, you still have to pay the per-sale Amazon seller fees which average about 15% of your items selling price. Plus you need to figure in your fulfillment and shipping costs.
Crafting handmade goods and sourcing the necessary raw materials all depend on the products you produce, so the tools of the trade for this sourcing option can differ greatly.
However, Amazon Handmade sellers can use FBA for stock storage, order packing, and shipping. Thats a handy tool for moving those time-consuming tasks off your plate so you can focus on producing more high-quality handmade goods.
Pros and cons of Amazon Handmade
On the con side, Amazons seller fees are higher than Etsy and its known to change its rulesand feespretty frequently.

Creating Your Amazon Listing
Now that you have chosen your products, its time to list them on Amazon. Dont make the mistake that other dropshippers are making and just copy and paste the listing from AliExpress to Amazon!
This is a bad strategy for several reasons:
- Its bad for Google SEO: Google doesnt like duplicate content
- Its bad for Amazon SEO: Another dropshipper might be listing the same product on Amazon and might have copied and pasted the listing already. Amazon doesnt like duplicate content either
- Customers can tell: The listing may have grammatical and spelling errors, and customers will be able to tell you lazily copied it
- It wont work: It might just be a poorly written listing. Also, what works to gain visibility on AliExpress wont necessarily work on Amazon
Use the information from the AliExpress listing to write your own, unique Amazon listing. If you ordered a sample, you can write a listing based on the firsthand information you have.
Use a keyword tool like Keywordtool.io to find high-volume keywords to use in your title and description.
Use size charts from the AliExpress description in your own listing, when applicable.
As for images, you can take images directly from AliExpress. One problem with this strategy is that if another dropshipper listed that product, your product images will look the same.
To get around this, dont use the first AliExpress image as your first image. Instead, use the second or third image as your default Amazon image.

Creating A Listing: How Get A Product On Amazon
There are two ways to add products to Amazon: bulk uploading via a .csv file, or individually through Amazons interface itself. In this amzSection well explain each method.
If you have hundreds of products, its most efficient to upload them to Amazon in bulk. This is easy to do as long as you have Microsoft Excel and all your product information handy.
From the Amazon Seller Central, hover over the Inventory tab and select Add Products via Upload. This will take you to the uploading center.
You cant upload any type of inventory file into Amazon because it may not have the correct information or layout for the system to process the data. So to make it easier, Amazon has created file templates that you can download based on your category type.
To access these templates, click the Download an Inventory File tab. Choose the types of products you want to sell from the available list, then click the Select button to add the product type to your upload template.
After choosing your product categories, youll then need to choose the type of template you want to download. You have three options:

Think Of Becoming A Private Label Seller
One of the best things about combining private label selling with is you deal with profitable items, can put your own spin on it, and then have Amazon take care of the rest. In 99.9% of cases, its not a good idea to re-invent the wheel and invent your own item. But with private labels, you can take an already great-selling product and put it back on the market with your own improved twist.
Shipping Seller Fulfilled Items
When it comes to shipping your items seller fulfilled on Amazon, you might be wondering:
- How long do you have to ship the item?
- How much will the shipping cost?
Well answer both of those questions in this section.
Once you receive a seller fulfilled order on Amazon, you will have 2 business days to ship the item.
Heres the way it will look in seller central when an order comes in:
You can see that this order sold on March 20th, which was a Friday. The deadline to ship this item is March 24th, which is a Tuesday. Regardless of what time the item sold on the 20th, the ship by date would still be Tuesday.
2 days is the default requirement for handling time. If you want to update this, you can do so in the shipping settings. You can do this by going to settings in the top right-hand corner of your seller central account, clicking on shipping settings, and then updating your shipping templates.
The price that you will pay for shipping a merchant fulfilled item is based on:
The larger your items or the farther you have to ship an item, the more expensive it will be.
When you sell an item, you will be able to purchase shipping for the item directly from Amazon. You will also be able to compare the rates offered from multiple different carriers to get the best deal. Lets take a look at a couple of examples.

How To Create An Amazon Seller Account
First, you need to create an Amazon account if you dont already have one. Go to this page here to create one.
Next, you can register your new Amazon account as a seller account.
Be sure to read the Before Your Register section on the webpage. It provides info about the two types of Amazon Seller accounts, Professional and Individual.
Dont know which account type to use? The answer is simple: if youre going to sell more than 40 items a month, use a Professional account otherwise, select an Individual account.
Why is 40 items the cut off point? Amazon will charge you $0.99 per item when selling on an Individual account. So, if youre going to sell 40 items a month, you might as well pay for the $40 a month Professional account.
In my case, I was only selling a few items, so I chose an Individual account.
Once you choose your account type, youll be asked to login or create an Amazon account using your preferred email. From then on you will need to provide:
For your seller information, youll need to provide your name and address, as well as a Display name. This will be the name buyers see next to the item youre selling. It can be anything you want, but remember its public. I chose BilboBaggins50 because I was selling some old Lord of the Rings video games.

Fulfillment By Amazon Practically Started My Business For Me
One of the Amazon services that few know about is a Fulfillment Service called FBA where Amazon can ship your products for you.
This is not drop-shipping its way better, and provides a better value for you and for your customer.
A seller or merchant ships product in bulk to Amazon, and when a customer orders, Amazon takes care of the rest: getting it there, customer support, and returns handling.
Its awesome, enabling, and its one of the best tools for how to sell on Amazon
But order fulfillment is just one small part of being a successful Internet Business selling on Amazon.com.
Ive seen people use the fulfillment service and lose money, not sell inventory, and go negative, because the other aspects of their Internet Business are all wrong.
