The Dot can recognize its trigger word better than the old one if it’s playing music, or if it’s connected to an adjacent speaker playing music. That’s not foolproof, though; especially with hip-hop playing through an attached external speaker, it may hear the lyrics as speech and be unable to figure out when a command ends. In a quiet room, both the old and new Dots have about a 50-foot range for voice commands.
The new Dot does show one irritating bug. While it supports dual-band Wi-Fi on the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands, it couldn’t recognize our Verizon Fios router’s 5GHz network. It recognized the 2.4GHz network, and it recognized 5GHz on three other routers, including a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900. The older Dot recognizes the Fios 5GHz network.

Go to Settings option from the left navigational panel.
Select your device and after select update Wi-Fi.
Try to press and hold action button when the light ring changes to an orange and select Wi-Fi network, enter the password.

Alexa On Windows 10 Pcs
Announced way back in 2018, Amazon brought Alexa to Windows 10 PCs in partnership initially with companies like ASUS, Acer, and HP. While not specifically for interacting with an Echo, it does provide another outlet to handle Alexa, requests, and skills on your PC.
Amazon has since released a dedicated app for Windows 10 which can be used by everyone. It can’t be used to set up an Echo device; you’ll still need to follow the steps above and use the web app for that.
But, it expands the reach and makes Alexa even more convenient to integrate with your life, and your home. It’s a little rough right now, but it’s a start.
Amazon Echo Dot: Design And Set Up
The Echo Dot is a great-looking product. It’s around the same circumference as the full-size Echo, but the Dot lacks a volume ring, meaning it has an additional two buttons on its top to control volume directly .
The Dot also has the same light ring found on the Echo, which indicates when Alexa is listening to you through its seven-microphone array, or whether the speaker is muted .;
The most striking difference from the Echo is the Dot’s height. At just 32 mm tall the device is a full 20 cm shorter than its bigger brother. It’s not as small as a dongle like the Chromecast Audio, but it’s pretty dinky all the same.;
Its size means it’s much easier to tuck away in a nook or cranny of your choosing, although naturally you’ll want to make sure its still able to hear you speak.;
We found that the Echo Dot worked well in the kitchen, where it was able to easily fit on top of a microwave, but placed next to a stereo was also good, so long as the hardware wasnt too close to the speakers .
Around the rear of the device is a micro USB port to provide power to the speaker, as well as a 3.5mm port to allow the Dot to connect to an external speaker. Unfortunately there’s no option for digital output, like with the Chromecast Audio’s hybrid 3.5mm analogue and optical port.;

Add Adult To Amazon Household
Head over to the and sign in with your Amazon account. To add another adult, click Add Adult. Confirm your country and then type the name and email address of the adult with whom you want to create and share your Amazon Household.
Confirm that you want to share your Amazon Wallet as proof that you both live in the same household. Then check or uncheck the items you want to share with the other adult, including apps and games, audiobooks, and ebooks. Click Continue.
Confirm the persons name and email address and click the Send Invite button to send them an invitation to create and join your Amazon Household. The person will receive the invitation email and can then click the Get Started button in the email.;

Add Teens To Amazon Household
You cant give a teenager access to your Echo under their own profile, but you can add them to your household to grant them certain Amazon shopping and video streaming abilities. From Your Amazon Household page, click Add a Teen.;
The next screen explains what a teen can do with the account. Scroll down the page and click the Get Started button. At the next screen, add the teens name and birthday. Click Continue.
Under the Amazon Teen program, teenagers can shop online on their own, but you approve their purchases. You can determine how to proceedReview and approve all orders; Automatically approve orders up to a certain amount; or Automatically approve all orders.;

Which Amazon Echo Should You Get
Amazon now has a whole range of Echo products to choose from: The Echo Dot, Echo, Echo Plus, Echo Show in three sizes, the Echo Flex and the Echo Studio
The first big difference between them is the price. The Echo Dot is $50, the 2nd generation Echo is $100, and the Echo Plus is $180. The standard Echo Show is $230 for the regular model and $90 for the 5-inch model or $130 for the 8-inch. With these also having a display you get video and not just audio-based features.
The Echo Plus tops the range of the speakers because it’s also a built-in smart home hub, and it’s basically the same form factor as the standard Echo, but is more expensive at $165.

A Wifi Internet Connection
None of the Echo devices built to date has an Ethernet RJ45 port.; So, your only option for Echo Dot 2nd generation setup, is to connect them to the Alexa service via your wireless network.; This network must have internet access. Note that Alexa on your Echo device will not work without a properly configured wireless internet connection.
Connect Your Echo Device To Wi
Select the Echo device listed on the screen. The name should take the form of Echo-XXX, with the XXX represented by a series of three uppercase letters.
Unless youre still using a first-generation Echo device, the Alexa app searches for and connects to your Wi-Fi network. If you own multiple Alexa speakers, you can create a Sonos-style multi-room audio system, which enables you to sync the same music across multiple Echo devices.
That could mean seamlessly listening to music as you move throughout your home, or filling large rooms with multiple speakers working in tandem.
