How To Use Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Don't Miss

Trick : Add Custom Fonts To Kindle Paperwhite Easily Without Hacking

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 10th Generation – Setup and Use from Start to Finish – Very Nice!

You may wonder if there was an easy way to add additional font types to the original list.

Yes, you can, and you can easily achieve this goal with this trick. All you need to do is just to create a new folder named “fonts”, then download some fonts types you like from the internet to this folder. Below the fonts file, create a new text file and rename is as “USE_ALT_FONTS“.

The left job is to let your Kindle adopt the newly added fonts. Reboot your Kindle, then open a book to enjoy!

This solution only works well on Kindle Paperwhite 1. For Kindle Paperwhite 2, you can’t do anything unless hack your device.

There is also another easier way to add custom fonts to Kindle Paperwhite. You can click here to learn more details.

Format Support By Device

The first Kindle could read unprotected Mobipocket files , plain text files , Topaz format books and Amazon’s AZW format.

The Kindle 2 added native PDF capability with the version 2.3 firmware upgrade. The Kindle 1 could not read PDF files, but Amazon provides experimental conversion to the native AZW format, with the caveat that not all PDFs may format correctly. The Kindle 2 added the ability to play the Audible Enhanced format. The Kindle 2 can also display HTML files.

The fourth and later generation Kindles, Touch, Paperwhite , Voyage and Oasis can display AZW, AZW3, TXT, PDF, unprotected MOBI, and PRC files natively. HTML, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, GIF, PNG, and BMP are usable through Amazon’s conversion service. The Keyboard, Touch, Oasis 2 & 3, Kindle 8 & 9, and Paperwhite 4 can also play Audible Enhanced . The Kindle , Kindle Paperwhite , Voyage and Oasis can display KFX files natively. KFX is Amazon’s successor to the AZW3 format.

Kindles cannot natively display EPUB files. However, at least two methods allow viewing the content of EPUB formatted content on Kindles:

  • Specialized software like Calibre allows EPUB or some other unsupported files to be converted to one of the supported file formats.
  • Kindles can be jailbroken to allow third-party software, such as KOReader which does support EPUB, to be installed.
  • Trick : Epub Books On Kindle Paperwhite

Supposing that you received a book from your best friend, he highly recommended you to read this book because he has read it and thought it amazingly interesting. You were so excited to open it, but you got a problem.

This book is an EPUB file.

You can open this book with Calibre on computer.

You transferred this book to your favorite Kindle Paperwhite.

But finally your Kindle doesn’t show it up!

In fact, almost all my friends including me have encountered this similar problem. The open-source EPUB eBook format is so great for sharing books between different eReaders, but why Amazon’s best-seller Kindle Paperwhite doesn’t support it?

If you have the same question, this article is for you.

Yes, this is my recommended solution to this problem. It is a powerful Kindle Paperwhite trick to eBooks lovers.

When converting EPUB to Kindle format, this tool Epubor Ultimate is needed.

It helps convert books from EPUB format to Kindle supported mobi, no matter your EPUB books are with DRM protections or not.

Note that this tool is an all-in-one product that could resolve nearly all your eBooks’ problems with your eReaders. It supports ebooks from stores like Google, Apple iBooks, B& N, Rakuten Kobo, Sony, etc.

My Kindle Paperwhite Has No Bluetooth Option

    Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2015) review

This suggests that you have an earlier model. Any Kindle Paperwhite 3 or earlier will not have bluetooth fitted and therefore cannot be used.

To check which Kindle Paperwhite you have, check the model number on the back of the device. Then do a search on Google by typing the model number in, it should identify which model you have.

How To Put Free Ebooks On Your Amazon Kindle

There are many sites out there that offer free ebooks, and you can take advantage of them. One way is by downloading them from the internet. However, if you do not have a good connection, this option will be useless. So, another alternative is through Amazon. This will make it easy for you to get the ebooks that you want. If you are an avid reader, it will be exciting to discover how readers can find books they like online.

Trick : How To Add And Change Kindle Dictionary Quickly

While looking up a unfamiliar word when reading, Amazon allows us to use their custom dictionaries just by pressing and holding on the words. This is so convenient.

But if you have books in many languages, then you are required to add foreign language dictionary to the Kindle, or switch dictionaries among different languages.

We are so lucky that now it is possible to install some custom dictionaries to Kindle device.

Just download the dictionaries you need. Download the files to your computer, then connect your KPW to your PC, drag the files to your Kindle “documents\dictionaries” folder. Eject your Kindle, then you need to make the newly added dictionaries work well on your Kindle Paperwhite.

Go to Menu > Settings > Device Options > Language and Dictionaries > Dictionaries. Then you can set each one that you want to use.

The default dictionary will be changed quickly. Don’t worry it won’t remove the existing dictionaries. you will be able to switch between them.

This wikiHow teaches you how to get started with your Amazon Kindle e-reader. Unlike a traditional tablet, the Kindle e-reader is made to look and behave more like a physical bookit even uses a special technology called e-ink that’s easier on both your eyes and your battery. Modern Kindles even have touch screens and Wi-Fi capabilities, making it simpler than ever to borrow, purchase, and flip through thousands of e-books. Once you learn your way around your Kindlebe it the standard Kindle, Paperwhite, Oasis, or Voyageryou’ll see how convenient and fun e-readers can be!

    Is There A Better Alternative

Kindle Paperwhite for Beginners | H2TechVideos

It depends on your needs. In terms of hardware, the Kindle surpasses all of its non-Amazon competitors for the price, including both Nook and Kobo lines. However, the design isnt quite as ergonomic as the Oasis or even the chunky Glowlight 3 since both of those have physical buttons. Aesthetics aside, Amazon could have done a little more to build the Paperwhite into the ultimate e-reader, like incorporating more of the auto-brightness features and more storage, but for that, youll need to spend more on the Signature Edition.

If you arent a fan of the Kindle line, then the Kobo Clara would be a similar device in terms of design and function. Youll lose some of the key software features of the Amazon Kindle Store, like Daily Deals, in lieu of the OverDrive e-lending library, but it may be worth it if you want to support your local library with free books.

Amazons New Kindle Paperwhite Review: Its Best Ereader Yet

The Kindle Paperwhite is versatile, sharp and bright enough to read in any environment.

    Amazon

A few weeks back, I told you about Amazon’s latest Kindle Paperwhite and called into question what this means for its flagship model, the Kindle Oasis. Now that I’ve gotten some hands-on time with the final version of the Kindle Paperwhite, I’m even more worried for the Kindle Oasis.

Suffice to say, until Amazon gives the Oasis a big upgrade, there’s no other device I’d rather read on . Why? Let’s take a look.

    Amazon

    • Adjustable LEDs brightness and temperature
    • Waterproof
    • Faster processor than previous generation Kindle Paperwhite
    • Bigger battery
    • Premium features like wireless charging and auto-adjusting LEDs are in more expensive edition
    • No page turn buttons

    Kindle Paperwhite: Technical Specifications

    Display Size: 6.8″ glare-free | Storage: 8GB | Screen Resolution: 300 ppi| Front Light: 17 LEDs | Connectivity: WiFi only | Weight: 205g | Battery Life: 10 weeks

Just in case you didn’t read my original article, here’s the rundown of the newest Kindle Paperwhite.

The all-new Kindle Paperwhite has a huge 6.8-inch screen , an absolutely gorgeous 300 ppi display, and an adjustable light with warmth setting . It’s the same size and form factor as the previous Kindle Paperwhite, shrinking the bezels around the edges of the tablet to accommodate the larger screen. The Signature Edition adds an auto-adjusting front light and Qi wireless charging. It has either 8 GB of storage for the base model or 32 GB for the Signature Edition.

It adopts the USB-C connector of the base-model Kindle, giving you the ability to fast-charge your device to around 25% in 15 minutes. It only takes around 2.5 hours to charge the Kindle Paperwhite completely. Not that you’ll have to charge that often, since the bigger battery should last you around 10 weeks. You’ll see a performance boost with a 20% faster processor as well. Like its predecessor, the all-new Kindle Paperwhite is also waterproof.

Which all sounds great. But how does it actually translate to an in-hand device? Amazon sent me a Signature Edition and cork cover to try it out. So let’s take a look.

    Put It In Your Pocket

Catching up on all the reading you have stored in the Pocket app can be like trying to get through a towering stack of New Yorker magazines. You intended to read every word, but now it just seems overwhelming. Send some of those articles to your Kindle, and you’ll be more likely to read them. Do that by using Pocket 2 Kindle, which connects your Amazon and Pocket accounts and periodically sends articles you’ve saved to Pocket to your Kindle.

    Organizing Your Paperwhite Library

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite unboxing and setup

While your Kindle library may not be quite as satisfying to look at as a perfectly color-coded bookshelf, there are plenty of ways to organize it to your satisfaction.

Toggle between Grid view and List view to see all of the books in your collection, and sort them by anything from author name to title name. You can also filter through your library to differentiate between books, periodicals, and Audible titles.

If you decide that you no longer want a title on your Kindle shelf, you can remove it from your library by tapping the menu item on the cover and selecting to remove it from your device.

You can also archive titles to free up space on your actual device, and theyll still be able to download through the Amazon Cloud.

At Hooked to Books, we want everyone to be able to read as much as humanly possible.

The Paperwhite is easy to use and smart to read from, making it the absolute perfect choice for your reading experiences.

    Specs Features And Battery Life

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2021 comes with 8GB of storage, or if you choose the Signature Edition then you get 32GB of storage. For the Kindle Paperwhite 2018 you can also choose between 8GB or 32GB of storage, but in both cases thats for a standard Paperwhite theres no Signature Edition of the old model.

That Signature Edition additionally gets you wireless charging, which is a new feature for Amazons ereader range, as even the Kindle Oasis doesnt have this.

And speaking of charging, if you do use a wire, you can connect it to a USB-C port on the Kindle Paperwhite 2021, whereas the Kindle Paperwhite 2018 is stuck with a dated micro USB port.

The battery life should also be better on the new model, with Amazon claiming that the Paperwhite 2021 will last for up to 10 weeks between charges, whereas the Paperwhite 2018 only goes up to six weeks .

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2021 also benefits from page turns that are 20% faster than on the previous generation.

But not everything works out in the new models favor, as the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2018 is optionally available with cellular connectivity, whereas the Kindle Paperwhite 2021 is Wi-Fi-only.
