Amazon Is Hiring Hundreds Of Full
West Volusia County, Florida USA – It has been less than a year since the news that a more than one million square foot Amazon fulfillment center would locate in the City of Deltona in west Volusia County. Currently, Amazon is hiring for its fulfillment center with plans to create more than 500 new, full-time jobs generating capital investment exceeding $100 million. Job postings are currently online www.amazondelivers.jobs and hiring will begin over the next couple of weeks.
This is a textbook example of how collaboration among community resources can result in such a major project riding a fast track from site selection to grand opening, said Keith Norden, CEcD, President and CEO of Team Volusia Economic Development Corporation.
Nordens organization made initial contact with Amazon in 2013, illustrating the long period of time required for some economic development projects to come to fruition. When dialogue evolved from casual conversations to a potential project, Team Volusia played a lead role collaborating with partner organizations while helping close the deal. These included the City of Deltona CareerSource/Flagler Volusia Volusia County Government Duke Energy, Chambers of Commerce and others. Once talks got specific, everything seemed to move at warp speed.
Already, interest among other companies is becoming apparent.

Amazon is holding what it is calling its biggest-ever training and recruiting event Wednesday, with the goal of filling thousands of jobs at an average starting wage of over $18 per hour, with some making even more.
The retail giant is looking to fill transportation and fulfillment roles during its Career Day event, with some of the positions receiving up to $22.50 hourly.
The wages are offered as part of Amazons efforts to fill an additional 125,000 local jobs throughout the U.S. on top of the 40,000 corporate and technology jobs it announced earlier this month.
Most of these jobs are across 18 states, including Florida, the company said.
There are also sign-on bonuses of up to $3,000 available in certain locations.
Amazons job creation efforts will be welcomed by job seekers across America especially in more rural locations, which are traditionally not the focus of strong retail investment, said Neil Saunders, managing director of retail for GlobalData, an intelligence and analytics research firm, in a statement.
Saunders said company research shows salaries for logistics jobs are 16% higher than shop-floor jobs, and more logistics positions have scope for full-time working and come with benefits.
