Will There Be Another Prime Day In October 2021
Last year Amazon Prime Day deals were pushed back to October 13, after the global pandemic saw increased pressures on the online giant’s shipping system in the summer. However, such a big timescale shift didn’t burden Prime Day’s earnings, instead offering up a record breaking period of sales, according to Adobe Analytics. With the summer Prime Day 2021 now done and dusted, then, it’s possible that the online retail giant may be looking to double down on its efforts and bring its fall sale back once again.
If that happens, we would expect another event to take place during the middle of October, at a similar date to last year’s October 13 sale. For now, though, Amazon has not commented on whether another Prime Day is in the works, so we’re keeping a close eye and bringing all the latest rumors right here.
Otherwise, all attention falls to those and in late November to save you a bob or two in the lead up to the holidays.

How Do You Prepare For Amazon Prime Day Deals
Whether you’re hopeful for some big TV price drops or a new laptop, it’s worth making sure you know exactly what you want to get from Prime Day deals.
That means going beyond the brand or model you are looking for, and taking note of the specs and features that are important to you. In the heat of the moment there’s going to be a lot of prices and specs flying around, and to get the best Prime Day deals possible you’ll need to know exactly what you’re looking for.
Plus, your first choice model may not even be discounted which means you’ll also want to find out which features you’re willing to sacrifice for a lower price and what you would be willing to spend above your budget if there was bags of extra value in a slightly higher cost.
That also means doing a little research on what prices you can expect to see. Camelcamelcamel is a good starting place for finding out the record low price of your chosen items, as well as their Prime Day deals last year. Aim for a middle ground between these two costs, as factors like demand, launch dates and any releases since Prime Day last year may effect both prices.

Looking For Signs Of Change
A few weeks into the new year, Derrick Palmer took a 16-hour road trip with Mr. Smalls to Bessemer to witness the most serious push workers had ever made to challenge their status at Amazon. The employees galvanizing Amazons first-ever unionization vote framed their treatment as an issue of racial justice. Above all, they objected to the time off task system and other productivity monitoring, and called their campaign a quest for respect in the workplace.
Amazon waged a ground war, warning through posted signs, texts and mandatory meetings that union negotiations could risk the good jobs and benefits workers already had. In the end, the election was not even close: The retail union lost by more than 2 to 1.
Back on Staten Island, Mr. Palmer and Mr. Smalls embarked on a new mission anyway. As legal fights continued over whether JFK8 was safe during the virus and how Amazon handled the March 2020 protests, they began collecting hundreds of workers signatures in a quest to unionize JFK8. Amazon pulled out its Bessemer playbook and fought back, posting discouraging signs in bathrooms and at the buildings entrance. Mr. Palmer, still packing boxes as the company countered his efforts, felt the pressure on him grow.
Mr. Bezos commitment in April to become Earths best employer raised questions about what exactly that meant, and how far he and his successors would go.
Now, he said, lets see if they can innovate their way out of this.

Burning Through The Work Force
On Oct. 13, the bus stop outside JFK8 was flooded with workers hired in a surge without parallel in American corporate history. It was Prime Day, the invented Amazon shopping holiday that kicked off the Christmas season. To meet the moment, the warehouse was absorbing entire friend and family units without job interviews, and in most cases, little to no conversation between employer and applicants.
As dusk settled and trucks rolled by, Tiara Mangroo, a high school student just off her shift, embraced her boyfriend. He worked for Amazon on Staten Island too, as did her father, uncle, cousins and best friend. Keanu Bushell, a college student, worked days, and his father nights, sharing one car that made four daily trips between Brooklyn and JFK8. A mother and daughter organized containers of meals for their middle-of-the-night breaks others packed Red Bull or Starbucks Frappuccinos in the clear theft-prevention bags that workers carried. Most said they were grateful just to be employed.
Kevin Michelus, 60, and retired after a lifetime of odd jobs, had been drawn in by a postcard advertising work. No résumé, no job experience required, he said. Ive never heard of a job like that. He and the other newcomers had been hired after only a quick online screening. Internally, some describe the companys automated employment process as lights-out hiring, with algorithms making decisions, and limited sense on Amazons part of whom it is bringing in.

What Are Amazon Meal Kits
AmazonFresh currently offers 14 meal kits, including this Salmon Niçoise.
If youre an Amazon Prime member who also subscribes to the AmazonFresh add-on, available in 18 US markets, youre eligible to have delivered right to your door. Unlike most meal kit subscription boxes, this service isnt pre-scheduled, pre-fixed, or heavily packaged. Thats because AmazonFresh subscribers can schedule delivery of their products whenever theyd like, down to the hour, thanks to the companys partnership with Whole Foods.
While the kits themselves closely resemble those from services like Home Chef and HelloFresh, with recipe cards and pre-portioned ingredients, they arrive in paper bags rather than large sealed boxes. Each meal kit comes with two servings per box.
Each meal is pre-prepped, pre-packaged, and self-contained in a cardboard box.
Currently, Amazon offers 14 different dinner meal kits that range in price and cover a variety of diets. This is on the low end of options for most meal kit delivery services, which typically offer 10 to 20 meals per menu that changes week to week. Current meals include:

Several members of Team Clark have tested Amazon Fresh. Team Clark writer Michael noticed that the service took good care of his groceries, wrapping and insulating his perishables.
I was really impressed with how carefully Amazon packed my groceries, Michael says. Refrigerated items had multiple ice packs, and there was dry ice to keep frozen items at the proper temperature.
Heres how his Amazon Fresh order arrived:
On the other hand, when I received my order, no extra care was taken. My refrigerated items were grouped together in paper bags, but there werent any ice packs or extra insulation.
That said, all of my items were in good condition. The refrigerated items were cold, and there werent any bruises on the vegetables.
What Happened On Amazon Prime Day 2021
There was plenty to sink your teeth into over Amazon Prime Day this year, with discounts on everything from headphones to the Nintendo Switch. Some categories, however, did perform better than others.
Laptop deals, for example, were available with some slightly better discounts than we were anticipating, whereas 4K TVs didn’t seem to offer the variety and quality of discounts that we may have been used to before. We saw very few discounts on LG and Samsung’s 2021 models and returning sales on older 2020 devices. If you were after a 4K TV on Amazon Prime Day this year, options were somewhat limited to the retailer’s own Fire-enabled displays.
Of course, Amazon’s biggest sellers were its Echo and Echo Dot devices, both seeing brand new price lows at $59.99 and $24.99 respectively. However we also saw some excellent savings on previous generation Echo Show 5 and Echo Show 8 smart displays, meeting or just surpassing previous discount records.
You’ll find all the best Amazon Prime Day deals we saw this year just below.

Amazon Has Found A Treasure Trove Of Data
It’s beginning to become more clear why Amazon bought Whole Foods. For one, it’s getting its hands on lots of shopping data, which will come in handy as Amazon expands its online grocery business and private label offerings.
As Amazon combines its Prime service and Whole Foods shopping experience, it’s getting even more insight into how the same person shops on and offline. That means a better ability to target ads and promotions than a grocer typically is able to. Because many shoppers still browse groceries online but shop in person, this combination threatens to be particularly powerful.
