Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid
In this freewheeling, high-spirited Western from the director George Roy Hill, Paul Newman and Robert Redford have charisma and chemistry to burn as the title characters, a pair of grinning outlaws always on the lookout for the next score and the next thrill. But the film achieves its immortality thanks to William Goldmans wily and witty screenplay, which both sends up and embraces the conventions of the Western as well as supplies the stars with uproariously funny, fast-talking dialogue.
The 20 Best Tv Series To Watch On Amazon Prime Video
By Kevin Wong on December 13, 2021 at 12:48PM PST
For multiple awards seasons, Amazon was shut out by streaming services that had dedicated themselves to the production and development of top-drawer content. Amazon Prime Video, on the other hand, was the service that many streaming subscribers forgot they even had it was just an extra perk for users who subscribed to Amazon’s express and same-day delivery options.
But that was then and today Amazon Prime Video has a competitive content lineup. Season 2 of The Boys became the first non-Netflix show to crack the streaming viewership Top 10, logging over 891 million minutes viewed total, according to Nielsen.
There’s far more to Prime Video than just The Boyd, though. What other shows deserve this type of loyal viewership? Here are 20 must-watch TV series on –both originals and fan favorites acquired from other networks–ready to be streamed right this second.

The Rest Of The Expanse
Synopsis: A police detective in the asteroid belt, the first officer of an interplanetary ice freighter, and an earth-bound United Nations executive slowly discover a vast conspiracy that threatens the Earth’s rebellious colony on the asteroid belt. Along the way, evidence of alien life is discovered and a series of ring gates located near Uranus are unlocked that lead to totally new locations through the universe. Meanwhile, the major factions in the Solar System: Earth, Mars, the Outer Planets Authority and the Belters, fight amongst themselves and ultimately threaten all life on Earth.
Why you should watch: “The Expanse” has well and truly earned its place among the titans of TV sci-fi, up there along with “Battlestar Galactica” and “Babylon 5.” It’s by far the most cerebral sci-fi currently on television. You can catch up on everything that happened in Season 1 to 3 here, and a lot happened. Then you can catch up with everything that happened in Season 4 here. Personally, we believe seasons 1 and 2 were ever so slightly better than 3 and 4, but that doesn’t in any way mean they’re not worth watching. Then along came Season 5 and blew everyone’s socks off. It is brilliant. The plot is incredibly complex and engaging and the individual performances are exceptional. Forget any Krell hologram-making mind machine on Altair IV, watching “The Expanse” will permanently double your IQ.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

One of Disneys biggest hits of the 1980s was this deliriously funny and crazily unexpected story about cartoon animals and cynical humans who exist together in 1940s Los Angeles, where the movie star Roger Rabbit is accused of murdering a local tycoon. He hires Eddie Valiant , a hard-boiled private eye, to clear his name, and they embark on an investigation of the animated movie industry. Its a treat for movie buffs and cartoon aficionados, but also an entertaining potboiler, dipping into the juicy, Chinatown-like mysteries and scandals of postwar Hollywood.

The Lady From Shanghai
Orson Welles attempted to repair his flailing film career in this moody and visually striking film noir. Welles portrays a crewman hired to sail Hayworth and her husbands yacht, and finds himself drawn into a wicked web of deception, sex and murder. As was often the case with his later works, Shanghai suffered from extensive studio interference and reshoots. But even in its expurgated form, this is an expert potboiler, and its oft-imitated house-of-mirrors climax is as gripping as ever. Our critic called it at once fluid and discordant, and filled with virtuoso set pieces.

The Dick Van Dyke Show
Amazons exclusive shows and other more recent series get most of the attention. Still, Prime Video is also a great resource for classic TV series, including whats widely considered one of the best and most influential sitcoms of all time, The Dick Van Dyke Show. Created by Carl Reiner and co-starring Mary Tyler Moore, it broke new ground with its self-referential premise of a show about a TV show, and its still just as funny.
The Man In The High Castle

Now that this loose adaptation of the Philip K. Dick short story has completed its four-season run, you can sort of watch it like a 40-hour movie. So many shows hook you without any promise of a resolution, but Man in the High Castle does legitimately wrap up a lot of its loose ends while ending ambiguously enough to make Dick fans happy. And Rufus Sewell gives arguably the most underrated performance on TV of the 2010s.

The Squid And The Whale
Two young men in Park Slope, Brooklyn, weather their parents nasty divorce in this ruthlessly intelligent and evenhanded coming-of-age story from the writer and director Noah Baumbach, who drew upon his own teenage memories and put himself, not altogether complimentarily, into the character of the 16-year-old Walt . Laura Linney is passive-aggressive perfection as his mother, while Jeff Daniels, as the father, masterfully captures a specific type of sneeringly dissatisfied intellectual. The film is both sharply comical and piercingly sad, A.O. Scott wrote Baumbach dissects this familys woes and drama with knowing precision.
